Did I just hear correctly?
She said yes to moving in with me?
I know I'm staring at her like a dumbass, but, I really can't believe she just said yes. I hadn't brought it up the last few weeks, knowing how much she was already dealing with.
"If you don't want to, that's fine." She said, looking away.
"No! I mean, yes! Yes, I want you to move in with me still." I rambled out.
"You sure?" She asked.
"Oh, I'm more than sure." I smiled.
"Ok. Um, when?" She asked.
"Let's go look for a house tomorrow." I said excitedly.
"Um, sure. Yeah." She said hesitantly.
"If this is about the whole money situation, I swear to christ, I will start drinking with Mateo." I warned, watching her laugh.
Her cousin can pack away alcohol, like a camel does water. Jesus christ, I thought we drank a lot. It's nothing compared to him when he gets going.
"You are not doing that." She laughed.
"Babe, it's your house too, no matter what. It's our house. Money doesn't make it a home. We do." I told her.
"I know. It's just a really big step and I'm nervous. I want this, but, I am still nervous." She grinned a little.
"No need to be." I said, kissing her quickly.
"Where do you want to stay tonight? My place, yours, Matt's?" I asked.
We hadn't talked about this before we left. I never thought about it until now. We left the cabin and came straight here with Bruce. Kia thought it over some.
"I'd really like to see what my house looks like. I haven't been there in so long." She said.
"Your place it is." I nodded.
It was so strange going back to our houses. I had stopped by mine off and on over the time we were at Matt's. Kia hasn't been to hers or mine in months. Everything was just as we had left it. Both houses were so quiet and empty. It was really strange. But the longer I stood in my house, the less I wanted to be there.
My mind drifted back to one night with Christy a few years ago. She had been freaking out on me, accusing me of cheating on her when I had been at the studio. That night, she threw a large vase at my head. I had ducked just in time so it didn't hit me. She clawed the shit out of my arms when I tried to restrain her from breaking more shit.
Christ, I know my situation was different than Kia's, but, it still didn't leave me with a good feeling. I just wanted to lock the doors on this place and never step foot inside it again. Hell, even being here, made my mood shift. I was glad when we went over to her place.
"Are you ok?" Kia asked when we got in her bed.
"I'm fine, babe." I nodded.
"Sounds like my answer when I don't want to talk about something." She said.
I chuckled quietly. Well, she is right about that.
"I hate my house and every tainted memory of Christy being in it. I worked my ass off to buy that place, and now I can't stand being in it because of her." I sighed.
"So just stay here." Kia told me.
"I think I will." I muttered.
"I understand how you feel. I could of kept the house that Carlos and I had. I didn't want the memories. There were too many of them." She said quietly.
