Sara

Today was the day and Sara was utterly nervous for her date tonight. They had just finished class and Kai told her he would pick her up at 11am. He told her to wear dressy casual. He still wouldn't tell her what they were doing, and Sara had to assume they were going somewhere for a fancy dinner.

Casey helped her pick out an outfit earlier this week. Sara still had her curlers in her hair as she put on her dress. She was excited to see how the completed look came together. Her dress was an aqua color with three-quarter bubble sleeves, a high neckline with a subtle bow that lightly draped over one shoulder, it fell to her mid-calf. The dress showed off her curves in a subtle way. She paired the dress with some cream colored, close-toed heels.

Casey also helped with her makeup. She kept it light, since Sara didn't usually wear much makeup, a little blush, contouring, coral lipstick, eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara. A simple necklace and earrings finished the outfit off. There was still another 15 minutes before Kai was supposed to arrive and Sara quickly worked to undo the curlers from her hair.

"Girl, you look amazing!" Casey gushed. "He's not going to be able to keep his hands or eyes off you the entire night!"

Sara immediately blushed. "It's not like that Casey! He's just helping me out, that's all. He wanted me to know how dates usually go"

"Uh-huh. Sure." She mused.

As Sara stood in front of the mirror, taking in her appearance, she had a sudden flashback to the night in high school, right before Kai had picked her up for that first date. That date had not gone well, and Sara was too nervous to admit that she was worried something like that would happen again.

Nerves and butterflies were fighting each other for dominance in her stomach as she turned to Casey. "What if things don't go well? What if he takes advantage of me? What if..." She trailed off and Casey stood up from her bed and walked over to her.

Standing in front of Sara, Casey grabbed both of her hands and looked her right in the eyes. "Sara. This date will be fine. You will have fun. That man adores you, even if he hasn't admitted it to you or himself yet. I saw how he was the other night. He's falling hard and fast for you. You will not be taken advantage of. You are smart. You are brave. You know the warning signs. You got this."

Sara felt a little better after her friend's words of encouragement. She gave her a smile and a nod before grabbing a bobby pin to pull some of her hair that fanned her face back.

A knock sounded at the door and Sara's heart started to race.

"I'll grab it for you. Gotta give him my expectations. You know, make sure your back by midnight and all." Casey chuckled as she left the room.

Sara quickly put on a little dab of her favorite perfume, which smelled like tropical flowers with a hint of coconut. She made sure to grab her small purse and walked out to meet Casey and her date. She heard small talk going on and she paused in the hallway before making herself known.

She peeked around the corner and saw Kai standing by the couch while Casey sat down on it, stroking an invisible cat. Kai looked amazing. He was in black dress slacks, a light blue-ish gray dress shirt that showed off his muscles, and a dark blue tie. His hair was slightly disheveled yet in an orderly way. His dark hair falling just right.

"So, you'll have her back by midnight, yeah?" Casey asked.

"I can't guarantee midnight, but probably by 1am at the very latest." Kai said.

"And what's your trucks license plate?" Casey inquired.

Sara rolled her eyes and then decided to step out and save Kai from the inquisition of questions. Kai's eyes snapped to hers as she walked into the living room. He looked her up and down and he smiled brightly.
