Kai
The website was done. Hallelujah. Sara and Kai were going to meet with Ashley later today to see if there were any changes she wanted done before he lets the website go live. Now all they had left was their essay and final presentation.
They had made good headway on the essay, it really helped that they were practically living together which meant that they could work on it all the time. There was two weeks left until finals and both he and Sara had been busy studying.
Kai had put an offer on a house, and he should hear back later today on if it was accepted or not. Sara had no idea that he had been house shopping and he hoped that she would like the house he picked out. He planned to tell her on Christmas day. AJ had sheepishly admitted to Kai that he would move in with Casey and take over Sara's half of the rent.
It was a modest home, with five bedrooms and three full bathrooms and a half bathroom and roughly 4,000 square feet. Plenty of room for them to grow in. The yard was what he loved the most. It sat on two acres with a fully fenced back yard. It was near the edge of town and Kai knew they could purchase more land around the property if the farmland ever came up for sale. It had plenty of room, both inside and out, for all the dogs Sara wanted to rescue.
He had another surprise in store for her, that is, a possible surprise. He had been talking with her boss to arrange the adoption of Bruno and Ashby should their next, and last, adoption event fail. It was one of the reasons why he opted to buy instead of finding a new place to rent.
Kai took a few more phone calls before leaving the office to go pick Sara up from class.
"I can't believe Professor Homer!" She fumed as she hopped into the truck. "He threw an extra essay in at the last minute, twelve pages, due by Monday. All based on the effects of sexual abuse on child development.
"Not only did we cover that topic before Thanksgiving, but it's also the topic in the class that I paid the least attention to. Nor do I want to cover such a topic given my history. I'm sure I could use personal examples while writing. I mean. I could go on and on about how my rape has affected me into my adulthood..." She ranted on and on about how stupid the assignment was, and she kept going back and forth on whether or not she would actually do the assignment. Just to spite the professor.
Kai chuckled at her before she turned on him. Obviously she wasn't in a mood to take criticism.
Glaring at him, Sara spoke, "It's not funny. I don't have the time to add an additional assignment"
"I know" he calmly said, "I just thought you were adorable in the cursing of your professor. Remind me not to get on your bad side... again." He added, hoping that she wouldn't bite his head off further.
"Good save" she said as she turned back to the window.
Sara's mood seemed to improve the moment they reached Dusty Paws and Sara was able to go hug some of the resident rescues.
Kai headed inside after Ashley let him in and went to work setting his laptop up and bringing in newer monitors for Ashley's computer. These he was able to have donated by a local computer supply store. None of the old monitors that Sudo had were really a great fit. Most were broken or so old that the 1990s might call and want them back.
"Let's see what you have for me, Kai." Ashley said as she sat down at the table next to him. "Sara will be along; she likes to visit the dogs and horses."
Kai nodded and went on to explain what he has done with the website, the content he included, applications to be a foster family. He went through each page and let her play around with it a bit.
