Kai

The crowd around them groaned. The quarterback was just sacked. Again.

Kai could tell that AJ was getting frustrated based on his posture. They were playing against their bitter rivals this weekend and the home team was being crushed. Sometimes literally.

Kai had decided to take Sara to the football game and watch AJ play. Casey decided to join them at the last minute, and she was sitting on the other side of Sara. They all sat down on the bleachers waiting for the next play.

"Do you think we'll pull through?" Sara asked.

"It depends" he gave her a quick peck on the lips, and she smiled. "Our team seems to be struggling tonight and that doesn't bode well unless they come together in the second half."

"I hope they do. I'd hate to lose, yet again. We haven't won a game against them for ten years. You know how embarrassing that is for us?"

The next play ended in a fumble that the visiting team recovered. They all groaned again, while others cursed. Sara was holding his hand and she would grip it tight at the beginning of each play then loosen at the end. Rinse and repeat.

The quarter continued and the visiting team scored two touchdowns in that time. The home team really wasn't doing well this game.

Finally, right before half time, the home team scored a touchdown, but only just. The quarterback threw the ball to a wide receiver who was able to get the ball into the end zone by a couple inches before being tackled.

This time the crowd went wild with enthusiasm. Sara jumped up and down with excitement. He grabbed her hand and twirled her into a hug.

"See?" He smiled at her, "They might be able to turn it around."

"Do you guys want anything from concessions?" Casey asked as she peered around Sara to look at the both of them.

"I wouldn't mind some nachos," Sara chimed.

"Why don't I go and grab food for both of you and you can stay here and do whatever girls do?" Kai winked at Sara.

"Perfect" Casey said "I wasn't really looking forward to the line"

Kai headed off to the food court to grab their food and something for himself.

He felt his phone vibrate and he pulled it out.

Kyle: Hey, are you going to be at your parents for Thanksgiving? I thought we could get together and play some hoops like old times. Maybe even get a few of the team back together again for a game or drinks.

The line moved forward as Kai thought about his reply. It would be nice to see his old teammates, but he didn't really want to see Kyle. Now that he knew what his friend had done to Sara and everything she's had to go through since, there was a possibility that he would punch Kyle the first time he sees him. However, it could also prove to be fruitful in making sure he hasn't been stalking Sara.

Kai: That sounds like fun. I'm not going to be in town for too long. My girlfriend is coming to meet the parents and I had planned to spend time with her while we were in Cali.

Kyle: Girlfriend huh? You'll have to tell me all about her. Please tell me she's smoking hot. You could use some competition.

Kai seethed. Back when they were teenagers, this would have amused him. Now he knows exactly the kind of man Kyle was and wanted him no where near his girlfriend.

Kai: Not sharing man. Send me the details for when you'll be in town, and I'll see what I can do about seeing you. No guarantees though.

Kyle: I'd love to meet her though. You don't usually do girlfriends, and I wanted to see who captured you under their spell.
