Kai

The phone ringing woke Kai up from his fitful sleep. He looked at the caller and saw Casey's name displayed on the screen. He quickly sat up as he answered, worried that something had happened with Sara.

"Casey?" his voice still sounded groggy, yet alert.

"Kai? Sara was attacked—" His blood froze.

"What do you mean?" he asked, his voice cold as ice.

"We had an argument, about you, and..." he could hear the hesitation in her voice, "and she left. She stormed out of the apartment. She went to some park to cool off. While she was there, she was attacked by someone. I don't know who."

"Where is she Casey?" he bolted out of bed, throwing clothes on. He was out the door before she could tell him.

"She's at the hospital. She's still not awake, the Dr.'s and police are here, asking me questions and looking her over. Kai?" her voice drifted off.

"Yeah?" He put his truck in reverse and headed towards the hospital.

"They think she was raped."

Kai nearly drove off the road at that. "I'm on my way. If—if she wakes up before I get there, will you let her know I'm coming?"

Kai hung up and gripped the steering wheel tightly. Of all the things that could have happened, why did it have to be that? Tears fell as he drove, it had taken Sara years to get through her last rape, and even then she still struggled.

After a few deep breaths Kai called William.

"Where were you?" he practically yelled once William answered.

"I'm sorry Kai! I found her at the park, she had slipped away while I was using the restroom. I didn't know she was gone until I came back, and her car was gone.

"I followed her GPS that I placed after the last time she gave me the slip, and when I got to the park, I found her... Lying there. She had been beaten and raped. She was unconscious. I called 911. I didn't see anyone else at the park, but I did hear someone running away." William's voice was heavy with emotion.

Kai hit the steering wheel. He couldn't blame William, she had been in his charge, but Kai knew that even bodyguards needed to use the restroom from time to time.

He took another breath, trying to calm the raging inferno inside. It wouldn't do him any good to walk into the hospital like this.

"It wasn't your fault William. Thank you for finding her and getting her to the hospital. She probably wouldn't have survived the night out in the cold like that."

Kai rushed into the waiting room of the emergency room. He found Casey and AJ sitting in a chair talking to a couple of police officers. AJ's arm was around Casey, and she was giving the officers her account of the events that made Sara run off.

She looked up at Kai and stood up as he approached them.

"Kai, this is officer Roberto and Lamb. They are here to take statements." He nodded to them and shook their hands.

"Is she still unconscious?" Kai asked, he didn't really feel like talking to the officers and needed the latest on Sara's condition.

Casey nodded. Kai fought for air before sitting down.

"They won't let any of us see her. Her mom is supposed to arrive in the morning, she was able to move her flight up a few days to get here sooner."

Officer Roberto knelt down in front of Kai. "Are you the boyfriend?"
