You really needed some time off for yourself, this couldn't be your life: Fighting monsters and aliens and crazy psychopathic gods who wanted to enslave all of humanity and crack organizations and villains wanting to take over the world. You needed some time to find your true calling, your thing. You needed to find out what YOU were good at in life other than fighting and the constant fear of whether or not you'd be alive to see the next day

The other reason you kind of needed some time off for yourself was because your team mates were getting too clingy to you, against your liking, you didn't understand why the other Avengers were so damn clingy to you and you didn't really like it too much. You weren't a fan of them being clingy and they'd rarely ever le you handle missions on your own these days. Someone like Natasha or Clint or Steve would take the initiative of hunting the target down and they'd ask you to relax, it's like either they didn't trust you anymore or they just didn't want you around. Well, it was fine by you, you weren't going to waste time whining and complaining about it, you were going to take a much needed rest and relaxation for the rest of your life 

The last straw of what pushed you to write your letter of retirement was when they started getting too fussy over you and didn't even allow you to leave the Avengers compound much your annoyance. You've had it with their constant fussing and babying, you needed to get away from them before you snapped and lost your mind and ended up doing something you'd regret. While the Avengers were at a mission, leaving you alone, you penned a note to Fury and packed your bags and was about to leave the tower since you knew if they came back, lots and lots of awkward questions would be asked where you were going and why you were leaving them. You didn't know how to answer them and didn't really feel like answering them either

You met with Fury and handed him the note and told him you wanted to quit. He seemed sorry to see you go but told you it was your choice but asked you to reconsider your decision again, you were a pretty badass fighter and he seemed sorry to see you go. "Fury please try to understand I need some time off for myself. I'd like to live out the rest of my life in one piece, I hope you don't mind'' and you both talked for a while and you bade him goodbye as you boarded your flight to your home. At last, you finally haven't felt this peaceful in a really long time and this was going to be a new phase and chapter in life for you 

Meanwhile after the Avengers came back to the tower, Clint went into your room to hang out with you but you weren't there. "Uhh... guys Y/N isn't there in their room'' and earned a few frowns from the other Avengers. "Where could they have gone, don't they know the world is dangerous?" frowned Steve and they didn't understand why you'd suddenly leave them. Just as they were getting ready to find you for themselves, Fury called them and told them you wanted to retire and you quit the team. After his call was done, there was a pin drop silence in the atmosphere, it was like someone had died or something 

"I can't believe they'd do this...I feel sad'' said Thor with a sad expression and Natasha looked like she was thinking hard about something and she spoke "Was it something we've done or said?" and Tony tried to call you but your cell was unreachable and he cursed under his breath. They all really missed you and Bucky spoke "Well obviously we can't let them be on their own right? We need to get them back, the world isn't safe for them'' and Steve nodded and replied "We'll need to find them and we'll have a nice long talk about this strange behavior of theirs. It's quite worrying indeed. We're getting them back, who's in?" asked Steve and the other Avengers raised their hands, determined to get you back
