I Don't Forgive You

9. Dabi's Funeral

One Week Later

Hawks walked into their apartment after a long day of work to see, Dabi visibly angry while he was feeding Shinji, "you're mad." Hawks said.

Dabi just grunted in response.

"Ok, what did I do?" Hawks said, "or what did I forget to do?"

Dabi didn't say anything.

"Why are you mad at me, baby?" Hawks said coming up behind Dabi and vegan rubbing Dabi's shoulders. He leaned down and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

"I'm not mad at you," Dabi said.

"What's wrong?" Hawks said.

"If I say what's wrong, I'll get mad," Dabi said, "I'm holding our son, I don't want to be mad in front of him." Dabi handed him a letter that was addressed to Hawks. As soon as he saw who it was from, he knew why Dabi was mad. Endeavor.

"Oh." Hawks said

"Are you going to read it?" Dabi said.

"Do you want me to?" Hawks asked.

"Its not my letter." Dabi said.

Hawks opened the letter:

Hawks,

I wanted to reach out to you to invite you to Touya's funeral. I know there is some history between you two, but I know that you tried to save him despite everything. I understand if you dont, but it would be nice to have you there as support.

Endeavor

After reading the letter Hawks handed it to Dabi, without saying a word. "So you're going?" Dabi said, reading the letter.

"Why would I, Touya?" Hawks said, "you're not dead."

"Keigo," Dabi said before lighting the letter on fire, and tossing it on the table, "you're going."

"Can you not light the table on fire?" Hawks said, "especially so close to our son."

"Relax, he's fine," Dabi said and poured the glass of water he had been drinking on the fire, "and you're going to that funeral."

"Why do you want me to go?" Hawks said.

"Look," Dabi said, "I spent my whole life trying to be good enough for my family. My parents tossed me aside, Natsumi and Fuyumi... I know they tried, but eventually they gave up. And Shoto. Shoto was never really a brother to me. When I died, they didn't care, they moved on and it was like I never even existed to them."

"Tou-" Hawks began to say before Dabi cut him off.

"They were never truly my family," Dabi continued, "And now they want to pretend like they cared, have another funeral, and move on with they're lives. Keigo, you are my family. You and Shinji. You're the only people I would want there. And maybe Toga but that's irrelevant." Dabi rolled his eyes and Hawks let out a little laugh.

"So you want us to go?" Hawks asked.

"Only you," Dabi said, "I don't want them anywhere near Shinji, ever."

2 Days Later

Hawks walked into the wake to see the rest of the Todoroki family, and a few students he had recognized from Shoto and Tsukuyomi's class. He could sense the heavy tension in the air, as the room was silent.
