"What the hell is going on here?" Hawks walked into the apartment to find half of their stuff packed up in boxes. Boxes were strewn out across the floor, so that Hawks could barely even walk past them.
"What does it look like?" Dabi threw his hands up into the air in exasperation, "Obviously I'm packing."
"OK?" Hawks blinked at Dabi, dumbfounded, "Why? I've been gone for a day, and now you're packing?"
"Yeah, I'm packing," Dabi sighed, "I don't know if you've noticed, but we're about to have a baby. In like six weeks? Where is the baby going to go?"
"I don't know yet, but I hope you're not planning on putting her in a box and packing her up," Hawks felt like he had walked into some alternate universe. Half of their lives missing and packed away in some box, "Where is Shinji?"
"He's in his room packing," Dabi said as if Hawks was supposed to know that, "Are you going to just stand there? Or are you going to help me?"
"Maybe, If I knew what the hell was going on, I would help you," Hawks sighed, "But you've gone crazy."
"Kei, we are moving," Dabi sat down on the bed, "We talked about this, we need more room. The baby can't sleep in our room, I'll lose my mind. And we can't just put him in Shinji's room, Shinji's in there. So we're moving."
"Ok, yeah, I remember us talking about not knowing where the baby was going to go," Hawks nodded his head, "But I don't remember us talking about moving. Am I missing something? Where are we moving to?"
"It was implied," Dabi mumbled, realizing that they hadn't actually gotten to that part of the conversation. "Ok, maybe I am a little ahead of myself."
"Yeah," Hawks shook his head in disbelief, "I didn't know that we were moving. It makes sense, we can definitely talk about it. Why the sudden urge to pack up the apartment, when we don't even have a place to move to yet?"
Dabi sighed, kicking aside one of the boxes by his feet, "I just realized, the baby will be here so soon, and I have my surgery next week. Before we know it, the baby will be here. We won't have time to get anything done, I just didn't want to put it off until the last minute." Dabi let out a deep breath, "I'm just overwhelmed by it all right now."
"Touya, just breathe," Hawks pulled Dabi closer to him, running his hands through his hair, "The baby, is a big change. We don't have to figure everything out right now, but if you want to move, we can start looking at places. We can talk to a realtor. But let's slow down, just a little."
"We don't have time though," Dabi sighed, resting his head against Hawks' shoulder, "He'll be here so soon. We haven't even told Shinji yet, what if he hate him."
Hawks chuckled, "Shinji won't hate her. He's such a good kid, he'll love her."
"Are you saying I was a bad kid? I hated my brother. I still hate him," Dabi grumbled.
"No, it's not that," Hawks draped his arm over Dabi's shoulder, "We love Shinji, and we'll love this new baby just as much. Nothing's ever going to change that."
"What if I can't do it?" Dabi sighed, "I don't know if I can do it, everything is so hard already."
"You're not alone in this," Hawks gave Dabi a quick kiss on the forehead, "I know I've been working a lot, and especially these past few weeks. I'm just trying to get things in order, so I can work a little less when the baby gets here. Help you out as much as I can."
Dabi leaned into Hawks, cupping the side of his cheek, his thumb making small circles under his eye. He brushed his lips up against Hawks', tasting the familiar sweetness that he had grown so used to over the years. Their lips moved together, soft and gentle.
