"Daddy, why you mad at me?" Shinji wiped the tears away from his eyes, as Dabi stared at the burns that were covering Shinji's arms. He felt his heart drop seeing them, his mind drawn to the image of his son being burned alive. Remembering the fear and the pain, suddenly sure that one day his son would meet the same fate.

"I'm not mad at you Dove," Dabi pulled Shinji into his arms, holding him as tight as he possibly could. His arms shook, trying to bury the fear that was growing inside of him.

"You holding on too tight," Shinji pushed against Dabi's chest, but Dabi didn't let go. Holding onto Shinji, as if somehow if he held onto him long enough, he could keep him safe from ever having to deal with any of the terrible things that he had long ago. "You smushin me."

"Touya, you're smushing him." Hawks responded, half paying attention as he kept making silly faces at Katara, trying to get her to laugh.

Shinji wiggled out of Dabi's arms, as Dabi shot Hawks a glare, "What the fuck is wrong with you?"

Hawks turned to look at Dabi, his face twisting into a confused expression. Katara let out a small giggle at his face, "What are you talking about?"

"You're not a fucking soldier anymore, Kei," Dabi snapped, "You could show some emotion for once, your son's hurt and you're acting like nothing is wrong."

Hawks sighed setting Katara back down in the bassinet next to Tohru. He turned to Dabi, glaring at him. "I get that you're worried and that you're scared, but that doesn't mean that you can run around acting like a dick."

"No," Shinji whined, stomping his foot on the ground. "No fight. No fight." He ran up to Hawks grabbing his hand and pulling him toward Dabi, "You both say sorry now. Then you kiss make it all better. No fight."

Dabi sighed, looking away from Hawks, "I'm sorry."

Hawks knelt down on the floor, curling up next to Dabi and wrapping his arms around him. "I'm sorry baby."

"Now kiss and make it better," Shinji crossed his arms over his chest. Dabi rolled his eyes, hesitating for a moment before he turned his head toward Hawks, wrapping his arm around his neck as he pulled him in for a quick kiss.

"All better," Hawks smirked, noticing the irritation in Dabi's eyes he sighed, turning to Shinji. "Come here buddy. Let talk."

Shinji's face sank, walking slowly over to his dads. He sat down on Hawks' lap, spreading his legs out over to lay in Dabi's. "You not getting a divorce. It not allowed."

"Buddy, why would you think that, you keep asking us if we're getting divorced. Why?" Hawks shook his head, genuinely confused.

Shinji started to cry, leaning his head against Hawks' chest, "Some kids at school says you hate each other. That you getting divorced or gonna kill each other."

"Dove, those kids at your school, they don't anything about us," Dabi tucked Shinji's bangs behind his ear, giving him a small smile, "Your Daddy and I love each other very much. We fight, but we love each other, and we love you and your sisters even more."

"So you didn't try kill each other?" Shinji asked, "They say during the war-"

"Of course we wouldn't," Hawks said quickly, "Why would your daddies ever try and kill each other? That's silly, huh?"

Shinji wiped the tears from his cheeks, letting out a small giggle, "Yeah, that is a little silly. I was scared."

Hawks took Shinji's hands into his own, looking down at the burns on his arms with concern, "That looks a hurts a lot."

"No," Shinji muttered, pulling his arms away from Hawks. "It not hurt. It just looks hurt."

"You can tell us when you're hurt," Hawks gave Shinji a quick kiss on the forehead. "We're just scared, that's all. I'm so sorry that we made you feel like you can't tell us. You can tell us anything. Sometimes, your daddies get really scared for you."
