I walked to my boyfriend's locker before first hour like I do everyday, today being Friday. I wrapped my arms around him from behind. "Boo!" I whispered in his ear.

He laughed a little, turning around "hey y/n."

"Hey eej." I went on my tiptoes to kiss his forehead. Something seemed...off. I furrowed my eyebrows, "you okay?"

He frowned, "not really." He laughed slightly.

"What's wrong?"

"Well-" the bell interrupted him.

I gave him a sad smile, "do you need to talk now? I can tell my parents to call the school, and we can hang out at my house?"

"Nah, it's okay. We'll talk later." He gave me a quick kiss on my cheek and said, "head to class."

I smiled at him, "love you."

"...Yeah." He said, closing his locker and walking to class. I knew something had to be wrong. He always says 'love you too'. Was it something I did? I would have to ask him at lunch.

I headed to the theatre kids' table. Ej and I sit there for lunch everyday. Usually, ej gets there before me. But not today.

"Where's ej? I asked Nini and Ricky.

"Dunno." Ricky said.

Nini rolled her eyes at her boyfriend's response, "I think he's in the library y/n."

"Oh...okay. Thank you."

"No problem."

I headed to the library to see the Librarian, Mrs. Miller.

"Hey, Mrs. M. Have you seen ej?" EJ and I come in here quite a lot to do homework, so she knows who we are.

"Not today, y/n."

"Okay, thank you."

"No problem." She said as I left the library. I thought about the places where he could be. I pulled out my phone to text him.

y/n:
hey where are you??

He didn't respond for a few minutes, and I was getting hungry. That's when Darren, one of ej's waterpolo friends, walked down the hall.

"Hey Darren!"

"Hey y/n. Why aren't you at lunch? Where's ej?"

"I'm not sure. Would you mind checking the boy's bathroom?"

"Not at all, I'll go check." He said running to the bathroom.

"Thanks."

He's in here

I headed to the boy's bathroom to get my boyfriend. It was almost the end of lunch, and we both had to eat.

"eej?" I yelled into the bathroom. He came out to the hallway with a tear-stained face. His hands running through his hair.

"Oh, baby." I said when I saw him.

He didn't say anything, and just wrapped his arms around me. I heard him softly sob as I rubbed his back. I don't think I've ever seen him cry.

"Let's go to your car." I said as I grabbed his hand, and walked us to the parking lot.

We got to ej's truck as I took out my spare keys for it and we got in the front seats.

"Wanna talk about it?" I looked at him with empathy. I didn't know what was going on, but I knew it was really hurting him.

He frowned, "I don't want you to miss your perfect attendance." He laughed, trying to make light of this.
