Waterpolo

I smiled as I applied the blue and white paint streaks on my face. Today I was going to my boyfriend's, EJ Caswell: captain of the water polo team, water polo game. We have been dating for 2 years, since freshman year of college. He got in on a water polo scholarship, and I am on a music scholarship. I have not been to any of his waterpolo games, and I feel kinda of bad. I know right. Girlfriend of the year over here. I'm just always busy, but the show I was just in ended, so I decided to go to this one. He also doesn't know I'm coming, so I decided to surprise him.

I drove to the school, and went to the pool area where I saw some bleachers. I sat down, the game had not yet begun but there was a large crowd already. Dang, I didn't realize waterpolo was popular. I sat down, and I looked to see Nini, my high school best friend, sitting next to me.

"NINI!! Hi!! What are you doing here??" I said, hugging her.

She turned to me, "Y/N!! I came down to surprise you!! I thought I'd catch a game first, and apparently waterpolo is literally the only sport in season."

"AWW, you're so sweet. Ej is playing in this game, so I decided to come surprise him."

"That's so cute! I'm so glad you guys are together. My favorite couple."

"You are so sweet, do you have someone special back at college?" I said elbowing her a little.

She laughed, "not yet! Going on 4 years of being single. Since junior year in high school with Ricky."

I laughed, "that's good! You are a strong independent girl boss and we love it."

"That's right." She laughed.

The team came out and got in the water, and I smiled as I saw ej approach the pool. He jumped in, and they started playing.

"So how do you like ej?" Nini asked as I watched and took pictures.

"Oh, Nini. He's perfect. He's so smart, athletic, thoughtful, and so adorable. I love him."

"You guys planning on getting married after college?"

I smiled. We never really talked about it, "I hope."

Ej did absolutely fantastic. They won the game, and ej scored most of the points. I'm really proud of him. A few minutes after the game, ej came out of the locker room with a few buddies of his and waved goodbye to them. He was changed out of his swim trunks and into a loose white shirt and athletic shorts. His hair was a wet mess. He smiled at me and then approached, "thank you for coming y/n!!"

"I thought it was about time I came." I laughed as I hugged him, getting a little wet myself. I noticed his waterpolo friends, Jason and Jack making fun of us, so I stuck my tongue out at them as they acted offended. I fixed his hair a little as he said 'hi' to Nini. "You did a great job ej." I said.

He smiled, "it's because I saw your beautiful face in the audience."

I blushed. He's adorable. "Yeah, okay Caswell."

He kissed the top of my head as we started walking out together with our hands intertwined. I convinced Nini to stay at my dorm instead of in her hotel, so she was walking alongside me. Ej whispered in my ear, "I love you l/n."

"I love you too Caswell."
