"You're a coward," Kai states, as I pace the length of his living room

"You're a coward," Kai states, as I pace the length of his living room. "I'm aware of that, thank you," I say with a smile as he smirks at me. I've left Lizzie alone in my hotel suite, she asked if I had killed her father for love. Even if I did, she shouldn't be happy about that.

"You're the Capo of the New York Famille, yet you're terrified of telling that girl you love her," Kai says as he rolls his eyes at my stubbornness. "The second you fall in love, you'll be fucked," I comment. Kai has never been close to love, well... "I'm fully aware of that, thank you," he mimics me from earlier. "Lizzies been gone for five months, you've literally only just got her back, and now you're stood in my apartment instead of in bed with her."

"I just," I pause at my words, the second Lizzie knows how I feel for her, she could destroy me. Love is a weakness, everyone in my life knows that, and I fucked it. All I had to do, was stay away from her, but I couldn't. I saw Lizzie at that party, and instantly I knew I needed to be consumed by her. I shouldn't of, she was the enemy, yet temptation took a hold of me. "Lizzie doesn't know you would of let her go, does she?" Kai suggests and he knows he's right when I don't reply.

I don't go back on my word, I had promised Lizzie freedom, and now if she knew, she could leave me again. And this time for good, I cannot live with that. "I'll give you the same advice you'd give me," Kai comments as I stop to wait for his suggestion, "be honest with her, you are the fucking Capo. You can do anything," Kai advises, sometimes I forget that Kai's younger than me.

If I could have, I would have protected Kai from this life, just like Blake tried for me. I know why my father made him take care of foreign affairs, and it's not because he's one of the smartest people we know. From what I've heard, Blake is still watching over Sofia Lewis, I wonder who else he's watching. I hate to admit it, but we three were made for this life, always have been, and always will be. You enter alive, you leave dead, that's the saying we intend to honor.

"The West won't make an attack," Kai states with confidence as if he knows something I won't. "What do you know, Kai?" I question, he stares at me blankly, we all know The Four Deadly Sins, and how they are all from different families. It was their way to create alliances, if shit were to go down, they'd know. They are the new generation for a reason, if one family was planning an attack to start a war, they'd know.

"I don't know anything," Kai lies with a smirk, "Capello would know," I suggest as Kai pauses, and his smirk disappears. "I wonder how long it would take for him to break," I taunt as Kai steps toward me. He may be younger than me, but he isn't much smaller. "You wouldn't touch, Hunter," Kai harshly commands, "touchy subject?" I mock with a smirk as Kai grips my loose collar. "If shit goes down, I'd know about it— and if I learn you've touched him, you and me will have a problem," Kai's eyes meet mine and I know he's being serious.

"I get that me and Alex are close, but you and Capello?" I say with a smirk as Kai begins to crack. This side of him, the hot-headed side that would do anything they can to protect the ones they love, is what will get him dead. Kai cannot hide his emotions, he never has. "You'll leave my friends alone," Kai demands rather than requests. I would feel the same if he threatened my friends. "If shit goes down, I need to know about it, if that means having a word with your little friend, Capello, I will," I state, Lizzie may be back, but that doesn't mean the speculation of war stops.

"If you hurt Hunter, you'll have to hurt me," Kai admits as his grip on my shirt tightens. I don't know why I'm pushing him, I literally got Lizzie back not even an hour ago, yet I'm here trying to see if my brother will crack. "When father said you were a protective motherfucker, I didn't expect he was talking about your relationship with Capello," I confess the words once spoken by our father. Kai releases his grip on me but he doesn't make any moves to back away.

"I'll talk to them," Kai utters as his eyes lock with mine. He knows I'll follow through with my threat, I always do. Kai also knows what I'm capable of, him and his friends may be the next generation, but if war is to come, I need to know about it for the further of the New York Familie. "Good," I simply say as I back away from him instead.

"Go home to your wife, and tell her how you feel," Kai suggests before making his way to his open plan kitchen. I watch as he begins pouring himself a drink of whatever alcohol he's managed to get his hands on. Kai glances up at me before nodding his chin in the direction of the door, "you know your way out."
