Two Weeks Ago

"This has to be a joke," Blake comments as he tries his hardest to hold back a laugh. "Does it look like I find this funny?" I question, the underline warning tone coming through.

I gave Lizzie two weeks, two weeks for her to figure out if she was going to tell me the truth or not. We both know she's still in love with me, as am I with her. Kai refuses to talk to me, for many reasons. One of the main arguments is the fact he believes me giving Lizzie this ultimatum is pathetic, but why would I allow myself to show weakness when not only once, but twice, Lizzie has ran from me?

"This whole, pushover attitude of yours lately, is shit," Blake comments with a shrug as he leans back in his chair. We were supposed to meet Hunter Capello in one of his secret speakeasies in New York— it must be important, considering he's just told the capo of the New York Famille the location of his business. Everyone knows, that unless you are a part of the family that occupies the city, you cannot run a business— that's just logic.

Rumors are speculating on whether or not, Hunter Capello will take over the West. "We're sitting ducks," Blake remarks as he glances around the room, it's clear he isn't relaxed in a place like this. "Your head of security, I feel pretty relaxed," I state with confidence. Despite Blake living abroad— fuck knows why exactly, our father did position him as head of protection for me and my brother.

"Why did you even agree to meet?" Blake questions and I wish I knew why exactly. All I know is that Hunter and Kai are close, and since Kai won't talk to me— maybe Hunter will. And now that Hunter wants to meet, I knew I had to agree. I brought Blake along because I'm not stupid walking into unknown territory, despite it being in my city. "I have no reason not to," I say as I lean back in my chair to keep my eyes on the main entrance.

Around ten minutes after the meet time, Hunter Capello makes his way through his world. I watch how the people surrounding us tip their heads in his direction, it's their way of showing respect. Unlike Garcia, people can look Hunter in his eyes. "Don't reveal too much," Blake mutters as if I need direction. Even though I'm capo, Blake is still my older brother, he'll take care of me, despite our positions.

"Look who it is," Hunter states as he stands at the head of our rounded table. He stands tall in a black suit, and even under the lights his hair still appears blonde, and in place. "Kian," he says my name with spite before glancing at my eldest brother, "Blake, didn't know you were back in the city, nor country for that matter," Hunter says as he takes a seat opposite him.

It appears that he's alone as no one else joins us at the table, but I know he isn't. "Why are you back in New York?" Blake asks before I have time to interrogate. "Summer solstice, you remember those days," Hunter taunts with a smirk. "You were older than us and your brothers, but surely you heard the stories," Hunter explains. "Kian here left for the West Coast, so he missed out."
