Logan and Violet were not cryers. They barley cried. I was glad I had children but I couldn't stop thinking about what a cruel person I was for bringing children into this world.
'You okay?' Daryl grunted as he sat down beside me.
I straightened my posture as he sat down. 'Yeah.' I sniffled and looked away.
'Talk to me.' Daryl whispered.
I paused, thinking of the right way to word what I was about to say.
'Do you think it's cruel that we brought kids into this world?'
'No.' Daryl didn't hesitate to answer. 'We're safe here. There's supplies here.' He said again.
'That's what we said about the prison.. and the farm.' I reminded him.
'This place is different.' He said with anger in his voice.
Our conversation got interrupted by an argument outside. We both glanced at eachother and ran out the door, seeing Glenn and the leaders from Alexandrias kid in eachother face.
I believe his name was Aiden. The leaders name was Deanna.
'Why'd you let these people in?'Aiden shouted and Daryl and I got closer.
'Because we actually know what we're doing.' Glenn responded. Aiden turned around and swung at Glenn, and Glenn ducked and punched him in the face, causing him to fall.
'AIDEN!' Deanna yelled. 'THATS ENOUGH.' She yelled again. Daryl immediately tackled Aidens other friend incase of anything else.
'That's enough!' Rick ran over and put his arms around Daryl, pulling him back.
'Rick is part of our group now. Accept it.' Deanna stated and walked away. 'And Rick, I want your people to all follow me.' She said again.
We followed Deanna into a room where she asked to interview us all.
Rick and Daryl went first, then it was my turn.
'You can sit there.' Deanna mentioned and pointed to a cough infront of her.
I sat down, confused as to what this was for.
'I just want to know more about you. You just had 2 babies, how's that?' She asked.
'Hard. But I'm grateful we're here and not out there.' I said.
Deanna nodded. 'What was your lifestyle like before you were here?' She asked.
'We moved around a lot. Every place we've been too has fallen at some point.'
'And is that what you think will happen here? Is that why your group is afraid to get comfortable?' She asked again.
I gave her a confused look, to which she said 'You all slept in the same room, half of your people haven't showered yet and keep leaving the walls to kill walkers for fun.'
I smiled. 'That's what we do. You would too if you were out there.'
'You think we're inexperienced?' She asked.
'No. But I think you've all had it very easy without realizing. You still have a civilized life here.' I said.
She asked me a few more questions then wrapped it up. I think the interview was to know our intentions separately to see if our stories aligned.
I went back to our 'house' to check on the babies.
Daryl was already in their room checking on them.
'You think it'd be better if they were never born?' He asks again.
'No. I just don't want them to have a cruel life.' I said, standing in the doorway and looking at Daryl.
'They won't.' He said, sternly.
There was something else I had been wanting to talk to him about. About the night to governor did something horrible to me. I was questioning if the babies were his, but how would I ever tell Daryl that.
I sat down beside him.
'Can I ask you something?' I said.
Daryl nodded. 'What if..' I stopped, and Daryl looked up at me.
'What if the babies aren't yours?' I whispered.
Daryl looked at me quickly and angrily, then his face faded into a sadness. I think he had forgotten for a moment about what happened to me.
'Oh.' He whispered.
My eyes filled with tears. 'Yeah.' I whispered back.
Daryl put his hand on my thigh and squeezed it, and kissed me gently on the cheek.
'No matter what, theyre my babies.' He whispered in my ear.
I wiped my tears. 'I think they are yours. I'm pretty sure I got my period after that night but I cant say for sure.' I sniffled.
'I'm sorry I wasn't there for you that night. I should've never let you go I don't know what I was thinking.' Daryl said, wrapping his arms around me and putting his head in my lap.
I kissed the top of his head. 'It's not your fault.' I whispered back.
Daryl squeezed me tighter.
I remembered how much I missed having Daryl all to myself. Lately we had been focused on finding our group, the babies, and a place to stay. Daryl and I hadn't gotten any time for eachother.
'Fuck, I missed you so much.' Daryl said, lifting his head off my lap to look me in the eyes.
I put my hand on his cheek.
'I thought you were gone for sure.' I whispered to him. He licked his lips slowly and leaned in, pushing his lips against mine. His tongue slid into my mouth and I realized how desperate we were for each other.
He pulled away slowly and got up, still looking at me.
'I love you y/n.' He said softly. 'I love you too Daryl.' I said back.
'Come with me?' He smiled and reached his hand out to me.
'Where?' I smiled, taking his hand and standing up.
He kissed my cheek and whispered in my ear;
'To shower.'
