Back in highschool, before apocalypse:
"Hurry up!" Daryl called as I ran behind him.
Sweat dripped down my forehead as the sunshine became stronger.
"Look." Daryl pointed as I finally caught up behind him. It was a river. "Wow, all that runnin for a river?" I said in somewhat disappointment after having to run for what seemed like forever.
And that's how our hangout area started. The river. Of course that was years before everything went to shit.
Beginning of apocalypse:
"Did you hear?" Daryl said as he sat beside me. I stared into the fire pit and didn't look at him. "What?" I said. I knew what was happening. Everyone get a eviction notice to get out of town. Apparently the dead were rising, and the military was trying to control everyone. Shooting people. "You heard." Daryl said as he let out a huff. He put is hand on my thigh and I could tell he was looking me in the eyes. "It'll be okay. Ain't nothin gonna happen to you." Daryl said trying to reassure me. He knew I got extreme anxiety from these situations, but he always knew how to calm me down and I knew how to calm him down. He lifted his hand off my thigh and went inside. I knew I was probably expected to be home now. Not that my sister would notice if I didn't show up. She was the only family by blood I had left. Even though she was a real asshole. "G'night Daryl. I'll see you tomorrow, okay?" I called out. "Yeah. G'night." Daryl said as he shut the door behind him.
