I dreaded telling Daryl the news.
I headed out with Maggie and we approached everyone outside.
I glanced at Maggie and she had a big, goofy smile on her face, obviously trying to contain her excitement.
I rolled my eyes jokingly and smiled too, folding my arms around my bigger stomach.
Rick had started the fire and I stared into the pink sunset.
We sat by the fire in silence, Maggie obviously waiting for me to break it and tell everyone. I was only planning on telling Daryl for now.
"So, hows everyone day?" Maggie asked, eyeing me.
I pretended not to see her.
"Same as usual." Rick answered as he sat beside Carl.
I tugged on my sleeves, looking at the scars everywhere.
"Good news, the illness has stopped spreading." Hershel said breaking the silence again.
"Great." Daryl whispered , looking over at me.
I plastered a smile on my face and looked up at Maggie.
She widened her eyes and looked at Daryl.
I ignored her once again.
We sat in silence for even longer this time and eventually people started heading inside.
Glenn, Maggie, Daryl and I were the last ones sitting there.
I looked around and cleared my throat, hinting at Maggie and Glenn to leave.
Maggie's eyes widened and she smiled , understanding I was asking for privacy.
Maggie nudged Glenn and he looked at her.
"We should go up now." Maggie said with a huge smile as she stood up and walked off.
Glenn followed her.
Once they were out of sight I looked over at Daryl who was staring deep into the fire.
"Okay." I whispered.
Daryl looked up at me, and rested his head in his hands.
"Maggie wanted me to tell you. And I kinda have to tell you." I admitted, tugging on my sleeves again.
Daryl looked me in the eyes as I spoke.
"What is it y/n?" Daryl asked.
I took a deep breath and prepared for his reaction.
"So Ive been really nauseous for awhile and throwing up so I talked to Maggie."
I said and looked up. Daryl obviously hadn't caught on yet.
"Daryl I'm pregnant." I said. It almost felt as if I hadn't said it.
My heart pounded so loud I was sure he would hear it. Daryl turned his gaze to me.
"You're pregnant?" He asked again, with a slight smile on his face which reassured me everything was fine.
I nodded, tugging at my sleeves again.
Daryls smile got even bigger and he stood up and reached for my hand. I grabbed his hand and he pulled me up into a hug.
I could feel his smile. "I'm gonna be a dad." He whispered into my shoulder. He squeezed his arms tighter on my back and released from our hug.
Daryl looked into my eyes, still smiling.
His smile slowly faded and he started to look worried, and I could sense his thoughts.
"It's yours. I got my period a week after the governor.." I stopped my sentence.
"You know." I whispered again. Daryl wrapped his arms around me again and leaned his head on me.
"It's gonna be okay. We have Hershel." Daryl reassured me.
I nodded.
We released from our hug again and I sat down, and Daryl sat back down too. "How'd you know?" Daryl asked.
I smiled, remembering what Maggie had said.
"Maggie thought she might've been pregnant. So she took a few tests, but they came out negative. She just had ones leftover." I said.
"How far do you think you are?" Daryl asked again. He was asking so many questions, it made me feel better.
"Honestly maybe 3-4 months. I hadn't realized how fast the days were going by." I admitted.
"I thought I was just eating too much." I chuckled and Daryl smiled too.
We sat in silence for a bit and I guess Daryl could tell I was worrying.
"Hey, we have Hershel. We have so many good people that'll help." Daryl said, looking me in the eyes.
"I know but.." I started to say.
"But what?" Daryl asked. I took a deep breath.
"What if the baby dies? I mean it's infected right? What if the baby dies and turns inside of me?" My heart pounded as I finished my question.
"That won't happen. You're overthinking it, I promise." Daryl reassured me again.
I nodded and looked back at the ground.
I could tell Daryl wanted to say something.
"What is it?" I asked, smiling as I looked up at him. He smiled back and sat up straighter.
"What're we gonna name them?" Daryl asked, with a huge smile.
I laughed and thought for a minute. "I haven't thought about it. I mean we won't even know the gender." I said, placing a hand on my stomach.
"We'll talk about names later." I laughed.
We sat outside for awhile longer until Daryl broke the silence.
"Come on. Let's go to sleep." Daryl said, standing up. I followed him inside and up to our cell.
