I must've fallen back asleep. I woke up with my back against the car door and Daryl wasn't cuddling me anymore. He was sitting in the drivers seat and Merle in the passengers seat.
"You're up." Daryl said glancing back at me.
"Found a camp of people. More like an RV. They invited us to stay, but my little brother isn't sure." Merle teased Daryl.
"Let's try." I suggested.
After we debated whether or not to go, we decided to check it out. We drove our truck up hills which seemed to go uphill forever.
"I haven't seen people in forever." I chuckled as I sat up and looked out my window at the people staring at us.
"It's me. Merle." Merle said with his hands up as he stepped out of the truck. Daryl followed and I did the same.
"Dale." An old man with bushy eyebrows said. "Get comfortable, introduce yourself." Dale said as he went back into his RV.
I looked at Daryl and shoved my hands in my pockets. Daryl looked back at me without any expression. I couldn't tell what he was thinking.

"I'm Lori. This is my son, Carl." A lady with brown hair appeared behind me and her son hid behind her. I tried to be friendly but it was hard with everyone new. "This is Shane. He has tents set up for y'all ." Lori said pointing to a man with fluffy brown hair. "Shane. Nice to meet you." He held out his hand and I hesitated to shake it, but did.
"2 of ya share a tent and we have another one for whoever wants to sleep by them self." Shane said as he pointed to the 2 tents set up for us. I was hoping Daryl wasn't in one of his moods and would sleep in the tent with me.
I glanced up at Daryl , giving him innocent eyes. He slightly smiled and turned back to face Shane.
"Me and y/n will take this one. That's Merles." Daryl said as he climbed inside our tent. I followed behind him.
"Trust em?" Daryl asked without looking up.
"I guess. They seem friendly."
Daryl grunted in agreement and layed down on the cold tent floor.
"We should meet everyone else." I suggested.
"Nah. Meet n greets ain't my thing." Daryl complained. I left Daryl in the tent and decided to thank Dale for letting us stay. He was talking to 2 girls. "I'm Amy. This is my sister , Andrea." Amy said pointing to the other blonde haired girl that stood behind her.
I got caught up with most people, except for the one with short hair. Carol. I talked to her daughter a bit but her husband seems defensive.
I crawled back into our tent as the sun started to set. Daryl hadn't left the tent.
I layed down close to him, but we weren't touching yet. I stared at the tent ceiling, which is what Daryl was doing. We sat in silence , just hearing the wind blowing. "They're nice people." I said to break the silence.
"We don't know em." Daryl said getting in his protective mode. "Trust me. Please." I turned to look at Daryl and he turned his head to look at me at the same time. "Ill try." He whispered. We stared at eachother without speaking. Daryl grabbed my wrist and then grabbed my hand, still locking his eyes with mine. He held my hand and continued staring at me with his deep blue eyes.
Maybe this could be our safe place.
