It had been awhile. The governor never came back to Woodbury, and we questioned what to do with the rest of his people, and Rick suggested we bring them all back to the prison so we did.
The prison was packed but it was nothing we couldn't handle.
"Y/n, Daryl, come here a second." Carol called over.
Our group was like gods to everyone we saved, and we had come so far with the farm and crops we had.
"We got a problem." Carol whispered as Daryl and I stood beside her.
Carol pointed down at the fences, some people killing them off at the fence.
"The walkers on the fence?" Daryl asked.
Carol nodded her head. "There's more this month, and they don't spread out. The fence is gonna give out eventually." Carol warned us.
I looked at the walkers, trying to bite our people as they stabbed them through the fence.
"Ricks got it." I whispered.
Carol shrugged her shoulders. "Anyways, I'm gonna go on the run." I said, looking at Daryl.
"No, you should stay." Daryl said.
Carol smiled and rolled her eyes jokingly and walked off.
A group of people, including Beths new boyfriend and this guy we found a few weeks back, Bob, got in the car.
"I'll use the motorcycle ." Daryl said, hopping on.
"I wanna come." I said before Daryl got the chance to drive off. He looked at me and grabbed the handle bars on the bike.
"Nah, you got things to do here." Daryl said.
I sighed but somewhat agreed with him.
"Okay. Be safe." I said, before walking off and heading inside the prison.
I was way more comfortable with everyone now, the people here felt like a family that I never had.
I looked back and saw Daryl and the others leave.
"Somethings up with the pigs." Carl said as he walked up behind me.
His voice had gotten deeper and I almost didn't realize it was him.
"I know." I said back. I had seen the pigs acting weird but didn't say anything.
"Also, Lizzie and Mica are naming the walkers." Carl said to me, looking behind his shoulder.
My eyebrows raised.
"Do they understand what they are?" I asked looking at Carl. He shrugged.
"I think Mica does. I'm not sure what the governor told them." Carl said.
The governors name sent chills down my body.
"We aren't sure what anyone in his group thinks." I said, this time almost a whisper.
Carl sighed and turned around, walking back to everyone.
"I'll um... check on the pigs." I called out and Carl nodded and continued walking.
I swung open the door and stepped into the sun, and headed to the pigs.
One seemed to be sleeping and it was covered in sweat. I looked around for Rick but didn't see him anywhere.
I'd tell him, maybe these pigs shouldn't be eaten right now.
I continued looking at the pigs and noticed they looked sick, almost like a fever.
I wiped my forehead with the back of my hand and headed back into the prison.
As soon as I entered , Beths singing echoed against the walls.
I squeezed my eyes shut and smiled.
I hated singing if I was honest. But I wasn't gonna stop her, especially since it seemed to calm everyone down.
I headed towards everyone and saw them
gathered around. Hershel had a sincere smile
as he watched his daughter sing. I wish I would've had a father like that. A loving one.
We sat around for awhile, listening to her voice in silence.
Beth finished her song and we all sat quietly for a little while longer.
"You think they'll be back soon?" I asked, looking up.
Maggie nodded.
"They should be." Maggie added in as she glanced over at Hershel.
I nodded once again, clueless what to do.
Awhile later:
It started to get dark as we heard vehicles approaching the gates.
A few of us ran outside to see. Daryl and everyone else pulled up and Carl pulled open the gates and let them in and quickly closed it behind them.
Everyone stepped out of the cars in silence.
Daryl pulled off his motorcycle and looked
up at me.
I ran towards him and wrapped my arms around him, pulling him into my chest. He wrapped his arms around me, leaning his head on top of
mine.
"I'm okay." He whispered, and then kissed the top of my head, pulling out of the hug.
"Beths boyfriend.." Daryl whispered.
"He didn't make it." Daryl whispered again, and I saw the look on everyone else's face.
"Oh god. Who's telling Beth?" I asked.
Daryl looked at the ground.
"I guess me." He whispered again, heading up to the prison.
I turned to follow Daryl and saw Rick looking at the pigs. He had dirt all over him.
I wondered where he had been. "They don't look too
good, right?" I said, standing beside Rick.
He nodded.
"Hopefully they weren't sick when we ate em." Rick added, following the rest of the group to the prison.
I headed inside and saw Daryl standing in Beths cell
door.
Almost everyone else was in bed and it has gotten dark really quick.
I went into my cell and tried to listen to them
talking but I could only hear mumbling. I layed on my bed and my eyes got heavy.
I drifted off to sleep but my sleep was disturbed by Daryl entering my cell.
I opened my eyes and saw him standing in the doorway.
"How long have you been standing there?" I asked, smiling.
"Long enough." Daryl whispered as he crawled
in bed beside me and I snuggled into his back.
"You're gorgeous when you're sleeping you know that?" Daryl whispered.
I immediately felt myself blush and couldn't help but smile.
I chuckled. "How'd she take it?" I asked, changing the subject.
"She didn't even cry. She just took it." Daryl
whispered again. I squeezed myself into his back even harder.
"I'm gonna try to sleep now." I whispered.
"Okay. Goodnight." Daryl whispered back.
I snuggled into him and my eyes went heavy again.
I thought I heard someone walking around as I fell asleep but I ignored it.
I was too tired to check who it was.
I needed sleep.
