I woke up in Daryls arms, the same position we fell asleep in.
Light beamed into the room, making it super bright as I lifted my head up and turned to Daryl.
He was still sleeping.
I got up and changed into new clothes and headed out of the cell. It was quiet inside, I must've woken up early.
I headed out of our cell block and into the field, seeing Rick and Carl also awake, digging up dirt.
"What's up?" I asked as I approached them.
Carl turned to me and smiled.
"Morning y/n." Carl said as he turned back to Rick.
"The soil is rotten or something." Rick said as he examined the handful of dirt in his hand.
I kneeled down beside them, looking at it.
"At least we have animals to eat." I mentioned.
Rick sighed, looking at the pigs.
"They're sick too. We shouldn't eat them right now." Rick said, clearly upset.
"We have plenty of food." I added, trying to lighten to mood.
"We just don't want anyone to have gotten sick from the pigs. We'll be okay dad." Carl said.
It hadn't hit me on how grown up Carl was.
"Where's everyone else?" I asked, looking around at the empty field.
"Sleeping. All of cell block D hasn't gotten up yet." Rick said as he threw the dirt back on the ground.
Sudden shots rang from inside the prison.
Carl and Rick quickly stood up.
"What was that?" I said as I reached for my gun.
"Carl, get to the watch tower with Maggie and Glenn, don't argue!" Rick yelled and Carl ran off.
"Come on!" I yelled as I held my gun and ran towards the prison, Rick following me.
I saw Daryl run outside and had a sense of relief. Sasha and a few of our own followed behind them.
"There's infected in cell block D." Sasha panted.
I had another sign of relief when I realized cell block D were the families from the governor so it wasn't our people.
"None in cell block C, I locked the gate." Sasha panted out again and Rick nodded, running inside.
I glanced at Daryl.
"Let's go." I said, and Daryl followed me inside.
Screaming blared across the prison walls.
Rick approached cell block D first and pushed open the gates.
People screamed and ran around frantically while walkers roamed around eating people.
Rick raised his gun and started shooting and Daryl
and I started shooting the walkers too.
The more walkers we took down, the less screams we heard.
"Are we good?" Rick called out.
"In this area, yeah." I called back.
Bodies layed everywhere and Daryl shot the final one that jumped on Glenn.
"It's Patrick." Daryl said as he got closer to the walker. He had blood smeared all over his face as if he coughed it up.
We walked around , stabbing the rest of the bodies in the head to make sure they didn't come back.
"You okay?" I asked as I turned to Daryl.
I could tell he wasn't.
"I'm just tired of loosing people, that's all." Daryl said almost in a whisper.
"I know." I said as I stabbed another body in the head.
We all gathered around another body.
"This one doesn't have bite marks." Rick pointed out.
"Neither did Patrick." Hershel added.
"So they just died?" Rick said again.
I shook my head. "No. They both coughed up blood." I said as I pointed to the blood all over the mouth area.
"So it's a disease from walkers?" Daryl asked, looking at me.
"No." The doctor from the governors place said.
"These type of things happened before walkers." He said again.
"The pigs." I whispered and Rick looked up at me, knowing I was right.
"The pigs got sick and they died quick. Do you think that's how it spread?" Rick said.
Hershel nodded.
"Animals. That's how these things usually spread." Hershel said again.
All of this sick talking reminded me of when I got sick back in the car with just Merle and Daryl, when this first started.
"Do you think more people will get sick?" I added.
Rick nodded. "I think we'll need medicine incase." Rick said again, backing up from the body.
"We've all been exposed." Hershel said after a long pause.
Rick glanced up at him.
"Well we know it moves fast." Hershel added.
"And if it spreads onto us.. we don't wanna spread it even more." Hershel said.
Rick rubbed his temples.
"I need to go outside for a minute." I said, starting to feel nauseous. I headed out the doors and heard Daryl behind me.
My stomach ached and my head pounded and I leaned over and puked.
I felt Daryls hand rubbing my back.
"You're okay." He whispered as he held my hair up with his other hand.
"I don't think puking is a sign of it." I said as slightly smiled and wiped my mouth and stood up straight.
"Oh shit." I whispered, looking behind Daryl at the walkers pounding on the fence.
We seemed to have more piling up.
"Daryl! Y/n!" Maggie yelled and we ran towards the fence.
We reached where Maggie was and grabbed the logs from the ground, pushing them up against the fence to keep it standing.
"Let's start to kill em!" Maggie yelled over the growling. Rick and a few others joined us on killing the walkers.
"You see this!?" Sasha called out. We all leaned over to see what she was seeing.
It was dead rats.
"Someones feeding em!?" I yelled over the noise and stabbed another walker.
Before anyone could answer, the fence pushed in even more.
"Shit!" Daryl yelled. "The fence is gonna give if we don't get them away." Glenn yelled over the noise.
Rick nodded and Daryl followed him. Everyone else stayed along the fence, stabbing walkers.
Rick got in the back of the truck with the pigs and Daryl drove it out into the field.
I turned away as Rick sacrificed the pigs to the  walkers.
The came back inside and most of the walkers left our fences for now.
I headed into the prison, making sure to keep my distance.
A day later:
We spent the next day digging graves for all the people we lost that night.
Karen and David were the only sick people for now, even though I kept quiet about feeling nauseous.
"How many more?" I asked Glenn as I put my shovel to the side.
"A lot." Glenn said as he continued shoveling.
"They killed them and set em on fire!" Tyreese shouted from awhile away.
"You wanna check what's happening?" Glenn asked. I nodded and walked over to see what Tyreese was shouting about.
I entered the doors and saw Rick, Carol, Tyreese and Daryl standing around 2 burnt bodies.
"Oh my god." I whispered as I shut the door.
It was Karen and David.
Tyreese shouted at Rick to find who did it.
"Hey, calm down man-" Daryl said, reaching out to Tyreese. Tyreese swung around and pinned Daryl up against the wall and my immediate reaction was to grab my gun.
I held it up and Daryl held his hand out to tell me it was okay.
Tyreese let him go and Rick tried to side with him again. Tyreese swung and hit Rick in the face twice.
I pulled out my gun again, not intending on shooting more for scare.
"Stop!" I yelled. Rick got back up and jumped on Tyreese, punching him repeatedly.
Daryl grabbed Rick and pulled him off of Tyreese.
"Let's go inside." Carol suggested and we all went inside, Rick went to Hershel to get his hand bandaged.
"You think we'll be okay?" I turned and asked Daryl.
"Let's hope." Daryl replied.
Why was I feeling so nauseous? Was I sick?
