It got colder in the truck and Merle hasn't returned. I could tell Daryl was getting stressed out about Merle and night fell and I wanted to comfort him but I could barley move.
"He should be back." Daryl said staring out his window. I tried to speak, but I was freezing cold yet sweating, and coughing up blood. I knew I was sick from when I went out of the car and cut my leg. It must've gotten infected and caused me this sickness. "Daryl." I eventually spoke. He spun around and had his fingers in his mouth, biting his nails.
"I could track em." Daryl said to me. "I-it's t-too dark-k." I spat out the words. "I l-love you." I wanted to tell him. "Don't say that like its the last thing you're gonna say." Daryl was getting annoyed but I knew I had to tell him. I closed my eyes, ready to let myself die.
I woke up in pain. Daryl was sleeping in the front seat and Merle still wasn't back. I tried to stay quiet but my teeth were clattering together and my breathe was uneasy .
I started uncontrollably coughing and saw Daryl shoot up and turn to me. Blood came out of my mouth and I felt Daryls hand on my back. "Its okay y/n, you're going to be okay." Daryls hand rubbed my back as I coughed. "I-I'm f-freezing." I choked out after my cough attack stopped.
Daryl slid back into the back seat and wrapped his strong arms arms around me. We both layed down and Daryl held me in his arms.
At first I had no idea what was happening. I felt butterflies in my stomach when I realized Daryl was spooning me. He buried his head in my neck and kept his arms tight around me.
He was so warm. I wanted to kiss him. Instead I just held onto his hands for the rest of the night.
I felt safe.
