Percy POV

Nico told me to get on Mrs. O'Leary. I jumped on her, and Nico gave her directions. I looked to my lions, and they began sniffing the air as if they knew something would happen. I looked at Nico again and got a pit in my stomach.

"Oh, please, no," I uttered. "Shadowing traveling as anything but a child of Hades is horrible."

"It's not a cakewalk for us either," Nico countered.

"I never said it was. I said that the other options were horrible."

With that, Mrs. O'Leary ran towards the wall, and before slamming in, she merged with her own shadow. Imagine all your senses going into overdrive like you were taking some drug. Okay, then imagine that all your senses tell you there is nothing you could sense. No sight, no hearing, no feeling, no tasting, and no smell. But all those scenes are still picking up the fainted surface, but you lose it like losing sand in a tight fist. Then you feel a numbing, tingling feeling in all of your senses which makes no sense because now your sight and hearing can feel things. That is kind of what it feels like to shadow travel.

When we rushed out of the shadows, we were in a large wood clearing. There were several trees, and they were lush and beautiful. It was a night out, and I could see a few stars and the moon as big as ever. I turned around to see Nico walking towards me, tired. He almost fell, but I caught him while jumping off the tank-sized dog.

"You okay?" I asked.

"Yeah, when I first did that, I was knocked out for a week. Now I just get drowsy. I have one more in me before I pass out for a few hours."

"Where are we?" I asked.

"Connecticut," he replied.

"We went from one state in the tri-state to another. Next, we are going to New Jersey," I mocked. "What's here?"

"Ms. Castellan," Nico replied.

"Luke's mom? But why are we coming here? Luke's been dead for over two years?"

"I need to confirm something," Nico informed. "I have a theory, but I need to ensure it's a fact. I don't know if your book has it since it hasn't been confirmed yet."

He led me to a teal color house. It was big, not as big as my mansion, but larger than the average. I saw a driveway, and I said we could have used my car or my lions that could run hundreds of miles, as if it was a light jog, in five minutes if we wanted to. Nico rolled his eyes as he knocked on the door.

An older lady opened the door quickly. She had graying, blonde hair. Cloudy, pale gray eyes, and they looked wild. I wondered if she could even see out of them. Her dress was in tatters with random pieces of fabric sewn over the destroyed parts. The clothing was singed as if she just jumped out of the fire like a firefighter who went in and out of the building, saving a seventy-two family.

"Luke!" she screamed with glee. "I knew you would come back. I told them you would!" She rushed to Nico and hugged him. I was confused; Nico and Luke looked nothing alike. She then looked at me and rushed over. Not to be mean or anything, but how do you confuse a guy with black hair and dark eyes who is short and, obviously, way younger than a guy who is nearing six feet tall and has blonde hair and blue eyes? I once knew a guy it happened to. He wrote fanfictions about this half-god, half-human guy who was the son of a massive pond. He apparently made the main character's love interest the most beautiful woman in the cannon material and did it because there weren't many fanfictions with them two together. He made the main character really strong like ridiculously overpowered, and also made it so the main character was ridiculously rich compared to the cannon. The main character had black hair, one green sea eye, and one robotic arm as well. He changed a lot, but he tried to stay with the source material. Apparently, he also had a pet dog who betrayed him and ended up getting massive cats afterwards. I wonder where he got the idea. Stupid ADHD! Get back to the point!
