As soon as Y/n was ready, Misha led her to where everyone else was, she whined as she scratched gently on the door with her paw. Y/n smiled as she knocked. Knowing she'd be allowed inside. She saw Anastasia run over to her, softly whining.
The other two were there as well, "He closed you inside... how curious." - she mumbled to herself. She turned around to see Brittany, "Morning, mother." - she said, "Good morning, my child, it is oh so lovely to see you up and early." - she said, she smiled at Y/n. "How was your sleep, dear?" - she asked.
Y/n smiled, "It's been good, don't worry about it." - Y/n said, "How did you sleep?" - Y/n asked, and her mother merely smiled, "It's been fine, beds here are quite comfortable." - she said. The two women and four dogs made it to the dining room. Soft smiles upon their faces. However, as soon as they entered, they saw a scene they only hoped not to witness.
Russ was holding Uni by the collar of his shirt, it seemed they had argued again. "Russ!" - Y/n ran over, looking at him with a saddened look. "Let him go. You're the bigger man!" - she said, and he looked at her with a frown, pushing her off of himself. "Do not meddle in what you do not understand, woman." - he said sternly, a saddened expression on her face.
"Very well then." - she said, she turned away and decided to listen to him, Brittany went to say something when both of them were interrupted by the doors opening. "Ah, good morning, Brittany, Y/n." - smiled Russ' mother, Natalia. Russ instantly dropped Uni to the ground, a frown spreading across his face.
"I see Russ is getting his daily arguments started." - she rolled her eyes as she smiled at Y/n, "I was wondering when things would get out of hand." - she muttered, Y/n looked at her with a saddened expression, "Ma'am, he did nothing wrong, it was my brother who had provoked him this morning and last night too, please do not blame Russ for what has happened here." - she begged.
Russ was once again bewildered at the extent she was willing to go to. Once again she put herself in front first, trying to protect him, even after earlier that morning, things had not been as smooth, but the woman still put herself in front of others to protect him. Russ watched her, though he was not as sceptical about her, he wanted to know why she kept protecting him.
It felt like Beauty and the Beast. He was the beast that the young, beautiful woman protected. But unlike Beauty, she loved him, it seemed. She wouldn't care that much about what would happen to their marriage if she didn't love him... right?
"Very well, my dear, but you and I will have a conversation a week from now, remember that it is important for your marriage, understood?" - she asked, Y/n nodded with her hands in a pleading position, "Yes ma'am." - Y/n said and the two women smiled, both Brittany and Natalia decided to sit down and have breakfast, soft smiles on their faces as Y/n sat to Russ' right.
Igor and Katarina brought the food and the breakfast could finally commence, however, it seemed one guest happened to appear unannounced. "Hello. Brother." - Y/n knew oh so well who it was. She gasped softly, her face seemed filled with horror. Kazakhstan smirked as he watched Y/n. He licked his lips as he saw the young woman sitting close to Russ.
"Ah, my child." - said Natalia. "Greetings, mother. Ah, Brittany, it is lovely to see both you and Uni." - he smirked as he sat down, glancing at his brother. "I see you got engaged, brother. How lovely." - he said, Y/n looked up at Russ, who held out his hand for her. She internally sighed in relief as she took his hand.
He smirked, "Indeed I have, Y/n will become my wife in less than three weeks." - he said. Y/n looked over to see Kazakhstan frowning upon seeing the two showing such a sign of affection. However, it wasn't long before Natalia spoke, "Well, son, aren't you going to get engaged soon? I heard that Croatia is willing to give her land over to you." - she said, to which Kazakhstan scoffed.
"A long-distance relationship would never work for us, I decided to break it off." - he said, a neutral facial expression upon his face. Natalia seemed angered by this, this was what Kazakhstan was known for, to be a player and especially a heartbreaker. This must have been the 6th or 7th woman he had turned down as his wife.
He had been offered many countries to make alliances with, same as Brittany and Franz (France), but nobody was good enough for Kazakhstan. Y/n felt extremely nervous at the empty seat between her and Kazakhstan, it wasn't until the door opened once more, to reveal Ukra. Y/n was slightly relieved, but not as much. As soon as Ukra took his rightful place at the table, it seemed to liven up a lot.
Ukra just had that effect on everyone. It did make the whole atmosphere slightly more breathable, but, the tension didn't cease to rise. "So, brother, is everything alright between the two of you?" - asked Kazakhstan. Y/n gulped, looking at Russ. His face was proficient, his expression didn't give away any emotion, neither anger nor sadness.
Y/n couldn't help but raise her hand to touch his. He went to move away, but with a soft growl from the distance, he went to put his hand on top of Y/n's, only for their fingers to intertwine. "Our relationship has become like a rose, blooming in the middle of winter. Life in the middle of a wasteland." - Russ said, making Y/n blush, his hand taking hers to his lips.
She smiled softly, Kazakhstan scoffed, "I would never have thought you'd be a romantic type, especially not since the last time you got engaged." - he said, Russ raised a brow, "And what exactly are you talking about, brother?" - said Russ, no emotion visible on his face. His grip on Y/n's hand hardened, she could feel his worry through his hand. She gave him a reassuring squeeze.
"Oh, you remember Kira." - Kazakhstan smirked, and Ukra seemed to smirk as well, "Indeed, you two seemed to function oh so well five years ago." - said Ukra. Russ glanced at Y/n for a moment, her smile never faltering. She squeezed his hand as he brought it to his lips again, keeping them there for a long while now. A soft sigh escaped his lips.
"Sons, I believe you shouldn't bring up the dead, they are supposed to rest in peace." - said Natalia. Brittany nodded in agreement. "Indeed, let bygones be bygones." - she said, Natalia nodded in agreement with her statement. "But mother, I believe Y/n has the right to know of Russ' past affairs." - said Kaz, a smirk on his face only widening.
Natalia scoffed, "Son, I suggest that you watch your foul mouth. You're the one who murdered your fiancé just to spend more time with a lover who was nowhere near the woman's level." - said Natalia. Kaz's eyes widened, he seemed to be at a loss for words.
His mother smirked at his facial expression, but Russ didn't seem in the least amused. On the contrary, he was quite annoyed with the behaviour of his family. He looked over to his fiancé, and soon to be wife, a soft smile on her face still, though she tried not to smile too much, so as to not cause others to glare menacingly.
He didn't let go of her hand, even as they were dining. With a soft whine coming from the side of the table, both Russ and Y/n looked to the side with a smile, "Ah, Alexei." - smirked Russ, Alexei nudged his leg. Natalia watched the couple intently, a smile spreading across her face. Brittany looked at her, slightly confused as to why she had agreed to have Russ and Y/n marry.
Natalia smirked as she knew her plan was going as planned. Suddenly, the room became more relaxed, and the tension somehow evaporated from the room, but it wasn't as strange as the way the weather had somehow become worse compared to the night before.
The lunch had finished long before the couple had decided to say goodbye to all of their guests. All but Natalia, she, Ukraine and Kazakhstan decided to stay close by. It didn't take them long before Russ became more aggressive, just like he was that morning. Y/n and Russ were seated in the living room, the dogs were with them. Soft music playing in the background.
They had a few musicians play for them. "You do know... You can leave me, for I am not as kind as you deserve me to be." - he said, Y/n's eyes widened, "Russ... love." - she mumbled, taking his hand in hers, he looked at her, his tired eyes told her more than his words ever could. "Oh, Russ... there's so much more to you... I know that."
She smiled softly, pecking his knuckles, his palm and the back of his hand. "Y/n..." - he mumbled her name, her eyes seemingly filled with lust. She leaned in, and pressed her lips to his, his arms opening up to welcome her into his warm embrace. Not knowing that mother dearest was watching, smiling upon the two.
"I am proud of you... Rossiya."
