The night was taking forever to come, most probably because Y/n was walking around her room in the safe house, whilst Poland stood and watched her.
"You know, there's no reason to get so flustered over this... Date thing... Right?" she asked, Y/n flinched, looking at Poland for a moment, before turning her gaze away to the window which was getting darker.
"I know, Poland, I'm aware, but what if something goes wrong?" She asked, "...what if he... well... kidnaps me?"
"Then why would you want to go see him?" she frowned.
"I know he's my cousin, but I don't know much about him, except that the first spouse he had was the one he said he'd marry for his mother's sake, I believe that rings a bell, does it not?"
Y/n scoffed, "Yes, I was told he had one--" she went silent, "He married her?" Poland raised a brow, "Oh, apologies, he married him, his male bride, Finland."
Y/n raised a brow, "Russ... Is... Uhm.." She went quiet with both confusion, but this strange feeling began to rise in her chest, something felt... Painful.
Poland merely shrugged, "Last time I checked I suppose he is a bit colourful..." She did the air quotes with her fingers.
The pain etched on Y/n's face, was this why he didn't like her from the beginning? Is this why she felt so insecure? Why she felt like she needed to prove her worth?
Because her fiancé was... She rubbed her chin, she didn't care about that... did she?
She heard the door open, "I'll be out if you need me, Y/n, but remember... Just because he was engaged to Finland, doesn't mean he does not actually love you..." And the door closed.
The sound of a crashing glass rang across the room.
Y/n opened the window, she looked down at her hand, the ring which was on her hand. She contemplated if she should do it...
Throw it all away and tell Russ it's over between them... But there was nothing to end...
He didn't even propose, the ring was that of her family, her mother... Brittany.
She sighed, "Momma... What would I do to be by your side again..."
A tear prickled her eye, she aggressively wiped it, "Oh, dear God, oh dear..."
She broke down, soft sobs coming out, the sound could be heard through the window, and with a deep sigh, she wiped her tears with a handkerchief, "Momma... I miss you..."
She mumbled, "I miss you..."
And that was certainly something which Teresa, down below in the living room of the safe house, heard.
She was with the two angel children, reading them a book before they go and sleep in their bedroom.
Teresa's heart ached, she knew Y/n was upset, really upset, but she wouldn't allow herself to get lost in problems which the young girl had to solve herself.
But what she did... as she finished the story up, she smiled, "The end."
Teresa stood up, tucking the book under her arm. She looked at the two children, "Alright, it's time for bed now, let's go."
The children groaned, but reluctantly got up and followed her towards their bedroom.
As she tucked them in, she could still hear Y/n's sobs coming from upstairs.
Teresa hesitated for a moment, considering going upstairs to comfort Y/n.
She knew it wasn't her place to interfere, but she couldn't bear to hear the girl in such pain.
