"Come on Merrill, you know the drill by now."
Ace grumbled slightly as he felt himself get nudged further into the back of the station. His hands cuffed in front of him as he made the usual walk along to the cell that may as well have his name over the door.
"You make that sound like I'm here all the time!" He scoffed sarcastically as the officer faked a laugh.
Ace walked in as he heard the cell door shut behind him.
"Hands." The officer ordered as Ace turned slowly.
Yet before he could slide them through the bars to be uncuffed, his eyes fell upon the cell opposite. He'd normally have seen some overweight middle aged man either drunkingly raging about being locked up or the same man passed out on the cot.
But he didn't.
He saw a girl.
The officer caught his distracted gaze and turned to look at her before back to Ace.
"Don't even try Merrill. She's not much of a talker."
Ace glanced at him confused. "She don't speak English?" He questioned as he kept looking back at her, slowly slipping his hands through the bars to be uncuffed.
The officer began releasing his wrists as he shook his head. "Oh she does, just enjoys the fouler side of the language."
They both turned to her as a loud clash was heard from her cell.
She was sat on the floor, leaning up against the back wall, her leg out straight, having just kicked the cot.
Her eyes glared at the officer and Ace as she watched and listened in silence.
"Just leave it Merrill okay?" The officer asked.
Ace shrugged the officers request off. "Who is she?"
The officer shrugged as he put Ace's cuffs in his back pocket and glanced down at the girl, who still shooting daggers at him.
"No idea. Refuses to give us her name or anything."
Ace scoffed as he glanced down at her, she looked harmless enough, except that look, that look could kill.
"Why she in here then?" He asked, every part of his curiosity being peaked by this new girl he didn't recognise.
"Attacked three of our officers when we tried to help her, found her out on the edge of town."
Yet before Ace could comment the girl finally spoke up, spitting her words out as she glared at the officer.
"You fucking gonna tell fucking everyone my fucking life story?!"
Ace leant back slightly as he was slightly taken aback by the amount of swear words that came from her.
The officer turned back to Ace as he gestured to the girl.
"Told you. Fouler side of English." He spoke matter of factly.
He slowly turned and made his way back to the door before turning to point between Ace and her cell.
"Play nice Merrill."
Ace leant forward against the cell bar door, his arms lazily draped through as he mocked a salute to the officer.
The door was soon heard as he finally left and Ace's attention returned to the girl locked up opposite.
"You really go for three of them?" He asked as he continued to rest his arms through the bars.
The girl didn't respond with words. Instead she tilted her head up to him and shot out those daggers he was becoming familiar with.
He let the silence take over as he attempted to take in her appearance in the dim light.
She had bleached blonde hair, as he did, except hers was more wild and ended just below her shoulder.
She was wearing black jeans tucked into black boots, she had a, what looked like it used to be, white vest top on that clung to her. Yet Ace noticed various rips and tears covering it.
Her eye had a purple and blue mark around it which matched the bruise that had formed on her jaw. Ace could see she had a split lip as the blood had dried on her chin.
He noticed the bruises littering her arms, which were clearly still covered in dirt.
"Who fucked you up?" He asked again.
The girl didn't reply as before, just continued to glare.
"You can tell me you know?" He pushed further. "If you're behind bars then we're clearly on the same side."
The girl continued to glare at him.
"Old man? Boyfriend? Husband?" Ace refused to back down.
The girl clearly refused to back down either.
"I ain't gonna stop so you might as well talk to me?" Ace asked with a laugh, he could sense he was pushing her buttons and Ace Merrill was never one to stop.
Yet she didn't reply, keeping her death glare on him as she remained seated.
"Come on, tell me your name?" Ace continued to push.
Silence.
"Your age?"
Silence.
"Where you from?"
Silence.
Ace growled as he felt himself beginning to get worked up, he hated being ignored and this girl was beginning to frustrate him.
"Will you fucking say something?!" He snapped at her.
Ace saw the smallest of smirks forming on her face. It clicked. She was ignoring him on purpose, as she had also sensed that being ignored wasn't one of his favourite things.
"Oh really?" He snapped sarcastically as he waved his arm about. "You're fucking playing me at my own game?"
Ace glared at the girl as he watched her shrug slightly, the small smirk still playing on her lips.
He scoffed as he pushed himself off the bars and walked to the makeshift cot, taking a seat.
"You're a bit of a bitch aren't ya?" He asked as he leant back at the wall, tilting his head to look down at her.
Ace watched as the smirk only grew as she nodded slowly. He watched her copy his movements and sit on the bed.
"You gonna say anything to me?" He asked as he waved his hands about.
The girl tilted her head slightly as she nodded.
"How about fuck off?" She asked quietly, a small hint of sarcasm in her tone.
Ace laughed slightly as he turned away and shrugged.
"You know I take it back." He started as he moved so he could lay down.
"You're not just a bit of a bitch, you're a full bitch." He snapped as he stared up at the ceiling.
The girl watched him curiously as she once again copied his movements so she could stare up at the ceiling.
"Fuck off." She once again snapped.
"Sweet dreams bitch." He snapped back.
