Alex sighed as he began a new game with Ace. How in the high hell was he going to deal with this?!

Maybe he should have offered to deal with his sister instead of Merrill.

"You can break." Ace mumbled.

Alex nodded as he bent over and took the first shot.

"You wanna talk about it?" Alex dove out with it.

Ace looked at him blankly as he took his own shot. "I'm not a fucking girl, I don't need to talk about feelings."

Alex nodded slowly as he went to take his own shot.

"Hardly my fault your sisters a stubborn bitch."

Alex would have defended her against anyone else but if Ace was anything like her then that might not be the best idea.

Ace moved to take his own shot. "Just because I can't fucking remember what I did or said." He grumbled as he took a shot and grabbed the bottle again.

Yet before Alex could respond Ace continued.

"It was an accident though. I didn't expect to get that drunk."

Alex stood in silent confusion as Ace wouldn't stop.

"I just saw all those fucking guys with their kids and it freaked me out." He exclaimed as he took his second shot, having potted on the last.

"I ain't no fucking dad." Ace grumbled as he straightened up and grabbed his bottle again.

Alex was about to talk as he took a swig but Ace jumped in first again.

"And ain't no way I'm set to raise one of those things!"

Alex tilted his head slowly to the side. For someone who claimed not to talk about his feelings, he was doing it a lot.

"They eat, scream, cry, shit and sleep. It's like a baby Charlie." He mumbled as he took another swig.

Yet, as was becoming a regular occurrence, before Alex could speak, Ace continued.

"And she thinks she's ready to be a fucking mum?!" He shouted as he placed the bottle down. "She don't know shit about being a parent and neither do I!"

Alex continued to stare at him blankly as Ace looked between the table and him.

"Your shot asshole." He grumbled.

Alex quickly nodded as he moved to take it.

"She's living in a fucking dream world if she thinks I'm just gonna magically change and win fucking dad of the year." Ace continued to rant on as he took another swig.

Alex took his shot as he straightened up and stared at Ace.

"I thought you wanted to be uncle?" He questioned.

Ace looked at him blankly. "That's what I said."

Alex raised an eyebrow at him.

"I said fucking uncle of the year." Ace grumbled as he took another longer drink that time.

Alex sighed as he shook his head, he knew what Ace had said. Ace even knew what he had said.

"And the thought of having her and that crying thing in my house ain't fucking appealing." Ace continued to grumble as he moved around the table to take a shot.

"The fuck is she expecting? Us to all live happily ever fucking after?!" He shouted as he took his shot and stood up. "This ain't no fucking fairytale."

Alex looked at him blankly.

"I mean come on!" Ace continued as Alex moved to take his shot.

"She must fucking know she's too young to be a proper mum to that kid. She can barely look after herself!"

Ace grumbled as he moved around to take his own shot.

"She's getting herself locked up too many times to be a responsible parent." Ace grumbled as he took his shot and straightened up.

"Why'd she get locked up this time?" Alex asked, he knew the answer obviously, he just wanted Ace to really think it over.

Ace stared at him blankly. "The bitch fucking jumped in." He grumbled as he leant against the pool table.

"Why'd she jump in?" Alex questioned quietly, pushing further.

Ace shrugged slightly as his mind flashed back to it. He remembered starting it by punching Zach, then they all jumped in. He remembered he was close to feeling himself pass out when Eyeball released her. She'd instantly punched the guy who had a hold of his collar.

Ace slowly brought his hand up to his neck, his fingers brushing the part of his shirt he was being held from. He remembered seeing the way she didn't hesitate to try and hurt each guy that was on him.

Alex sighed slightly as he saw the look on Ace's face. Placing his cue down on the table, he walked over to Ace slowly.

"You ever played chess?" He asked quietly.

Ace looked up at him blankly. Alex sighed slightly.

"Course not." He mumbled. "Anyway in chess the Queen is actually the most important piece of the whole game."

Ace scoffed slightly as he looked away.

"I'm serious!" Alex said loudly. "She is"

Ace grumbled under his breath slightly as Alex continued.

"You wanna know why?" He asked slowly.

Ace didn't reply as he slowly looked up and saw Alex walking away.

Just as Alex got to the door of Irbys, he stopped and faced Ace again.

"Think of the animal kingdom Ace." He started. "With lions, the female is always the most dangerous. Bears are the same."

Ace stared at him blankly across the bar.

"Same reason every time." Alex continued. "The Queen is the one that protects the King."

"The Queen will always protect the King Ace." Alex repeated as he quietly left the bar.

Ace watched him leave as he thought over what little he did know of the animal kingdom.

A female lion will go head to head with another male if it meant protecting her mate. A female lion will fight with other females to protect her pack, her mate and offspring.

She's the one that does the hunting and gathering of food, she's the one that raises the young. All the while, still protecting her King. She would go up a group outnumbered to protect the King.

The Queen will always protect the King.

Ace looked down at the bottle in his hands as his mind turned again to the fight. She had gone up again a pack massively outnumbering her. She had a child to think of but she still jumped in alongside Eyeball to help him.

She had been the Queen, going in to protect the King.

Ace tried shaking the thought from his mind as he put the bottle down on the table and walked out the bar.
