The three were awoken the next morning by the normal breakfast delivery. Ace watched as Vivian ignored it again, refusing to even look at the officer."You gonna do this all over again?" He asked her as she just looked down at the tray before back up at him from her spot on the floor, back up against the wall.
Keeping eye contact she kicked her leg out, sending the tray back out under the bars. The officer sighed as he just shook his head. He gave Jake and Ace's there's before turning to them all.
"We'll I'm sure by now you all know the drill, you can have your phone call. Harrison you're up." The officer mumbled as he waved his hand to Jake.
Jake got up, continuing to grumble about Ace and this new girl but let the officer open his cell door and walk him out to the reception. The moment they were gone Ace practically flung himself off his cot as he moved to his bars, looking over at Vivian, who kept her gaze focused on him.
"You gonna tell me how you ended up back here?" He asked as he stared down at her.
Vivian shrugged slightly.
Ace sighed. "Vivvy baby talk to me, what the fuck happened?"
Vivian grumbled slightly at the use of the nickname he had adopted for her. "Why do you even fucking care? You're back here too."
Ace nodded slightly. "True but only cause that fucker tried to jump me." He paused. "Now what the fuck is so important you went back to whatever fucker did all that to you?"
Vivian shook her head as she pulled her gaze from him. "You wouldn't understand."
Ace nodded at her. "Try me, I got things I care about too." Technically this was mainly a lie, Ace had never really cared about anything, unless it was himself.
"Not like this you don't." Vivian mumbled, continuing to look down at the floor.
Ace was about to reply but the doors opened again. Jake was escorted back through as he was re locked in his cell.
"Merrill." The officer mumbled as he unlocked Ace's door.
Taking his arm he began to lead Ace along but Ace stopped at Jake's cell, looking into him.
"Say one word to her and I'll kick your fucking teeth in." He spat out as the officer quickly shoved him along so he could make his call.
Naturally he was going to ring Eyeball, and add a sense of urgency on there by telling him that she was locked up again, with Jake so Eyeball had better fucking move it. And he better fucking move it fast.
He almost raced back to the cells as the officers seemed somewhat surprise at his eagerness to be locked up again. His attention went straight back to Vivian as he was once again locked up but the officer turned to her.
"Wanna call that mystery man from earlier?"
Ace's ears almost perked up as he snapped his head to her, eager to know more. Vivian shrugged.
"What, so you can fucking catch him too?" She snapped, glaring at the officer.
He shook his head slowly as he kept a firm distance from her cell, having heard and seen what she was capable of doing.
"We're just trying to work out what's going on." He said with a sigh as Ace found himself agreeing with a police officer for once.
"None of your fucking business is what's going on." Vivian spat back.
The officer sighed as he looked down before back up at her, still sitting on the floor.
"Do you want your phone call or not?" He said with another sigh, clearly he'd had enough of her.
Vivian reached her leg out and kicked the cot to the side of her.
"Take that as a no." He grumbled as he turned and left the three alone once more.
"Hard luck there Merrill." Jake started with a laugh. "Usually it's you with a girl and a bit on the side, now it's the other way round."
Ace growled slightly as he leant back against the wall, it was pointless constantly trying to tell this kid straight as he seemed intent on winding Ace up. Ace kept his eyes staring at Vivian, he watched as she got up and walked over to sit on the cot, as close to the bars as possible.
She leant against the wall behind her and looked out through the bars, towards Jake's cell. Ace slowly moved himself closer his cell bars as he leant against the wall, copying Vivian's movements.
Vivian looked over and saw that she couldn't see Jake, he was clearly sulking further back in his cell as she turned to Ace slowly.
"It's my brother." She mouthed across to him, her mind instantly questioning why she had to justify herself.
"He didn't do that did he?" Ace mouthed in response as he gestured to her body.
Vivian shook her head in response.
Ace nodded slowly as he tried to hide the wave of relief that seemed to wash over his face.
"Eyeball's gonna come get us." He mouthed back to her, trying not to make any noise so Jake wouldn't hear again, as she had.
Vivian nodded slowly, her head told her to tell Ace she didn't need any help but her mouth fought back. She gave Ace a small smile as he weakly smiled back. Vivian could feel herself getting more worked up, questioning why she wasn't telling him she didn't need him or why she was actually looking forward to having Eyeball bail them. She moved about as she lay back down on the cot and tried shutting her eyes once more, hoping to get a few more hours after yet another bad nights sleep.
Ace watched her attempt to get comfortable with a small smile on his face. Quickly, he mentally slapped himself, and stopped smiling as he leant his head back against the wall and kept his protective watch over her as she slept.
