“I asked if you would go out on a date with me”
The words were replaying in my head on a loop. The disbelief I was experiencing at the moment was too profound and my mouth was opening and closing like a fish out of water.
“I’m sorry. Did you, did you just ask me on a date?” I ask finally being able to form a sentence together.
“Yes. I did.” Ashter answers his cheeks tinging a slight pink making my eyes go wide. Why was he blushing and why did him blushing also look freaking good? I shake my head to rid of that thought focusing on the problem at hand. This guy was completely out of his mind. I look around my empty living room just to make sure it was in fact me he was talking to.
“Why, I mean what would possess you to ask me that?” I scoff my arms crossing my chest.
“Okay when I say date I don’t mean you know, a date, but like, I do?” he answers my question his own words coming out unsure. I only look at him dumbfounded sure that my face looks like one huge question mark.
“Ughhh okay hold on let me just get my thoughts into word form,” Ashter says dragging a hand down his face. He was clearly getting frustrated whatever he was trying to say not coming across correctly. I place a hand on my hip tapping my foot to convey my impatience. This conversation was only getting further and further away from the point of all of this. For me to get rid of him!!
“Alright let me put it this way. I want to make a bargain.” Ashter tells me as he claps his hands together like he is sure of himself finally.
“A bargain,” I repeat the words my voice deadpanned.
“Yes, a bargain. One night to redeem myself. After that night if you’re done with me, I’ll leave you alone and we go our separate ways.”
“Uh huh but see what if I want us to go our separate ways right now?” I ask him my tone once again sharp.
“Well I would agree with that if I had already attempted to do everything I could to make it up to you, and well I haven’t done that yet. I mean you could try to keep me away but I think we both know that I’ll do whatever I need to get what I want.” Ashter says to me with a mischievous glint in his eye.
I glare up at him biting the inside of my cheek. It had been so long since I had spoken to him that I forgot just how cocky he was. We stay in an intense eye locked match neither of us saying anything waiting for the other one to fold first. I hold my ground but then he steps towards me that look in his eye only grows as a smirk accompanies it. I feel my gaze falter a little bit but I refuse to back down and I keep the connection strong my head tilting up to accompany his height. He bends down to my level until he’s only inches away from my face, and now that smirk of his was full on display.
“Just think about this.” he starts his voice low like he didn’t want the peeping toms on the other side of the door to hear. “We either do this or I’ll find you in school and do lots of sappy stuff, I’ll manage to get in on all of the hangout sessions that you, Riley, and Mason have, and I’ll sweet talk your parents into letting me have dinner with you all. Every night.”
“You know you sound like a stalker right?” I tell him my eyebrow cocking in question.
“Guess you’ll have to get a restraining order.” He states simply shrugging as if this was not sounding insane.
“You’re crazy.” I tell him our eyes not once looking away from each other while all this went down.
“I just want you to hear me out. Like I said after I have done everything in my power to convey my remorse I’ll give up. You’ll never see me again. I’ll be a distant memory.”
