Color. Everywhere. The sound of laughter and explosions. Why is it that I can feel the emotion behind the sound? Anger, Confusion. Shock. Love? It's exhilarating. My eyes wander towards the sky and it fills with the most beautiful green ever. I look back in front of me and see him. What was he doing here? And why is he looking at me like that?
"Honey, Wake up." I look at him in confusion.
"What?"
"Wake up. Wake up Wake-"
"Up! Oh my goodness, you sleep like a hibernating bear. Wake up!" Before I can comprehend what's going on I feel the bed fall from beneath me and zero gravity surrounds me for .1 second. I let out a groan as my body hit the floor before opening my eyes and glaring at my mom.
"Im telling your husband." I manage to grumble out before rolling over onto my side.
"Oh whatever hurry up and look presentable. Were party hosts today. Plus all your friends are coming over and Im pretty sure they don't wanna be met with that." She then points at me with a disgusted look to which I look at her in shock.
Mom that was so mean. Now I'm definitely telling your husband and hes gonna make you regret that."
"Oh honey," She says before moving in my direction, putting a loving smile on her face, "You know I love you. Plus your dad's punishments for me are always ones I look forward to."
"Oh. My. Gosh. Get off of me. I think Im gonna be sick. Why would you tell me that! I am gonna go wash out my bleeding ears and you need to not say stuff like that to me anymore." I throw the covers over my head laying back on the ground as I hear my mother's laugh trail her out of my room.
Waiting a few seconds to make sure she's gone, I peel back the cover, and finally get up. I don't know why that woman always felt the need to embarrass me, and the images that are now trying to force their way into my brain are sure to have me throwing up at any second. I feel disgust rush through my body and I try to shake it off as I head towards my bathroom and get ready for the day. Everyone planned on coming by today besides Ashter who felt the need to just show up to give his confirmation instead of just sending a text back, but it just felt like my home would be getting graced by his presence.
I finish up my shower and head to my closet picking out some casual clothes. My family didn't really celebrate the 4th for the patriotism we just enjoyed BBQ and fireworks. If it wasn't considered a nuisance to most people my family would probably set off fireworks most weekends, but since it's not we go big for the 4th. I quickly glance at myself before heading downstairs the smells of a heating up grill filling my nostrils. I hurriedly sped through the kitchen making sure I glare at my mom and give her the iconic 'I'm watching you' move to which she just looks at me weird before going back to cooking whatever she was trying to create.
I open the door to the backyard rushing over to my dads side and looking curiously over the grill.
"So what ya doing?" I ask while noticing the absence of meat.
"I'm prepping the grill pumpkin. What are you doing?" He questions me back sending me a slight glance.
"Oh you know just trying to fend off your wife from hurting my feelings and making me want to ya know" I then drag a thumb across my neck and tilt my head to the side. This causes the focused man in front of me to put down the grill scrubber before turning towards me with his arms crossing his chest.
"She made you wanna scratch yourself?" I feel my mouth drop open as I look at him with disgusted disbelief.
"How do you not know what dragging a thumb across your neck means? I didn't think you were that old dad." He gasps at me throwing an offended hand across his chest which makes me smirk.
