"Oh my gosh I loooove Olive Garden, I mean I get the same thing every time we come here, but for some reason I fall in love like it was the first time." I throw a distracted smile in Riley's way what she's saying going in one ear in out the other. Ever since we had left the school, and met up here, only Ashter and what he said occupies my mind.
"What are you doing to me?"
I mean, What could that mean? Does he mean like affecting him emotionally or physically? I dont know what it is, but one thing I do know is that it's causing me to stress the freak out. My attention snaps out of my thoughts as I watch Riley move to pick up the menu in the middle of the table, her face scrunching up, the face she usually makes when she's thinking.
"You think that gift card of yours has enough for us to get those donut things for dessert?" She asks me, a child like spark filling her eyes.
"Riley it's called Zeppoli, and yes I'm sure we can." I say as a small chuckle leaves my mouth, Riley just waves at me carelessly as she continues to eye the dessert menu.
"Oh listen to this they have chocolate lasagna!" I hear Riley squeal the excitement in her voice. I once again give her a small nod in acknowledgment to let her know I'm listening even though in reality I'm really not. All of a sudden the cheeriness drops from Riley's face a confused but serious expression now occupying it.
"Okay you know what I'm done pretending as if youre okay. What is going on with you?" Riley suddenly asks me causing me to look at her in shock.
"What nothings wrong with me. Why would you ask that?" I question her trying to make my voice sound happy and worry free. She gives me a pointed look, and I swallow down the nervous lump in my throat.
"Come on Sylvie I've been your best friends since like forever, I know when your bullsh**ing me." I look at Riley in surprise the curse word that just left her mouth sounding foreign and strange.
"Since when did the sweet little Riley start to use grown up words?"
"Oh stop with the crap, you know I curse occasionally now stop trying to change the conversation." She spits back at my obvious attempt to change the subject. I let out a defeated sigh before running my hands up and down my face trying to wake up my worn out mind.
"Fine you wanna know what happened?" I ask her while trying to compose myself. "Ashter happened. Again."
"Oooooooo Ashter gossip tell me more." Riley demands as she sits up straighter in her sit before leaning forward her elbows propped on the table. I roll my eyes at her typical boy obsessed behavior.
"I mean it's not as major as the other stuff I've told you, it's just something he said to me before we parted ways that really has me on edge." Riley nods her head eagerly before snapping her fingers signaling for me to continue. I let out a deep breath trying to get my thoughts organized so I can say this in a way that makes sense.
"So basically me and Ashter were having another one of our disagreements, you know a usual for us. Some words were said blah blah blah, and then next thing you know I'm tackled to the ground, and Ashter starts to do intimate things an-"
"Woah woah woah, What do you mean intimate things?" Riley asks cutting me off from my recap of today's events.
"Well you know he tried to seduce me. He always does this It's like this game to him, I mean at least I thought it was." I say trying to explain Ashter's tactics to Riley.
