Baseball(Ness X Reader)

It was a regular day at school and I was on my way home, thinking about everything that happened.

As I passed by the school's baseball field, I couldn't help but notice a group of kids my age clustered together, laughing and joking around.

"Hey, (Y/N)!" A familiar voice snapped me back to reality.

It was my friend Ness.

I'll never really understood how Ness and I became friends. I'm not a talkative person, and I never really went out of my way to befriend anyone.
Ness was one of the popular kids at school, but he still wanted to be friends with me. He'd would invite me over to study with him, he'd walk me home from school sometimes, and he even bought me ice cream one time.

After a while, I started to get comfortable with Ness, until something came up. Every time he smiled at me or touched me, I'd feel my face heat up. Even thinking about him made me feel flustered at times. That's when I realized I'd caught feelings for him.

He ran over to the fence and smiled at me. "Wanna play ball with us? You can be on my team!"

"Oh... sure."

He smiled, then led me over to home plate.

"I'll bat first, then you're next."

I nodded and got in front of the other kids.

Ness stepped up to the plate. He hit the ball and ran the three bases before he reached home plate again, giving our team a point.

Our team cheered and Ness handed me the bat. "Your turn!"

"I-I don't know how to bat..."

"Just give it a try. You'll be fine!"

I stepped up to home plate and tried to mimic Ness's stance from memory.

"Like this?"

"Not really, hold on.."

He walked over and wrapped his arms around my waist, making my cheeks turn a deep shade of red.

"W-What are y-"

"Give me a second..."

After adjusting some things with my posture, he smiled and let go.

"Ok! Now, give it a try!"

I hit the ball and started running the bases.

When I made it back to home plate, everyone cheered.

The game continued, and at the end, Ness's team won.

As the other kids began leaving the field, Ness approached me.

"You were a great teammate (Y/N)! You sure this is your first time playing?"

"Yeah, it is.."

Ness nodded, then gave me a hug.

"Thanks for playing with us today." He let go of me.

I blushed. "No problem."

An awkward silence followed. Ness was just staring at me. He looked like he wanted to say something, but couldn't.

"Ness..? Is... something wrong?"

"No, it's fine, really-"

"If you want to say something, go ahead."

"...Alright then."

By now, Ness was looking sort of nervous, and he was starting to blush. He took a deep breath, then hugged me again.

"I..love you (Y/N)."

"Huh??"

"I've liked you for a while now... do you love me back?"

I leaned into him and kissed him on the cheek.

"I love you too Ness."

His face heated up, and he snuggled his face into my neck.

After a few moments, he let go and grabbed my hand.

"Come on, I'll walk you home."

We walked out of the field, hand in hand.
