My Bad(Ness x Reader)

Ness and I were on our way to visit Paula and Twoson, and I was listening to Ness' stories about his trip to defeat Giygas. Well, I was trying to listen, but I kept zoning out.

Ness and I have been friends since we were little. We would almost always play together, which eventually led to me crushing on him. A few months ago, Ness had to leave town alone to save the world from an evil alien named Giygas who almost destroyed our world. Ness invited me to come with him, but my parents refused to let me go. 

When Ness came back, he told me his stories, and he made some new friends on the trip, one of which was this girl named Paula Polestar. I ended up meeting her a few times, but we never really connected. It's not like I hate her; it's just that I wish I was the one who got to go with Ness on this adventure. When I asked Paula about the trip, she would always gush about how strong and loyal Ness was and how he seemed to have a crush on her. I wish Ness loved me the way he loved Paula. If only-

 "Um, hello? (Y/N)? Are you still there??" Ness was waving his hand in my face.

"O-oh...yeah, I'm listening."

He smiled knowingly. "Then what was I talking about?"

"Uh....baseball?"

"No, I was talking about when Paula and I visited Threed."

"Oh..."

"Things went bad really quickly when we first got here. We had to fight ghosts at the cemetery, and we eventually followed someone into a trap, and got locked in a room. Paula prayed, and a few hours later, Jeff came to save us."

We had finally reached her place. Ness knocked on the door and Paula opened it.

She smiled upon seeing Ness and hugged him. "Hi Ness!" She then waved politely at me. "Hi (Y/N)."

"Hi Paula..." She then led us inside the preschool.

Overall, the visit was sort of boring for me. It was mostly Ness and Paula talking to each other, and sometimes Paula did make an attempt to talk to me, but it was very rare when she did. 

Ness and I finally left, and the walk back to Onett was silent. By the time I managed to say something, we were already back at my home in my room, and Ness was getting ready to go back to his house. I was sitting on my bed, and he was at the door of my room, almost ready to exit my room, and then the house.

I decided to say something about the visit. "You must really like Paula, huh?"

He looked at me confused. "What do you mean?"

"You always go to visit her, you talk about her a lot, and even your mom thought you were dating her at some point."

"Yeah, but.. what does that have to do with anything?"

"Well...I was just wondering if you like Paula back."

Ness looked a little uneasy. "Well, I don't know...she's nice, and she is pretty, but I'm not sure."

I guess I looked upset or something, because Ness looked concerned. "Are you okay? Did I say something wrong?"

I shook my head. "No, it's just...I guess I kind of miss you."

Ness sat next to me on the bed. "But how? I spend plenty of time with you."

"I just feel like ever since you left to go save the world, we've sort of drifted apart. You spend more time with your other friends you've made, and to be honest, I always wish I went with you so you would spend more time with me."

Ness looked a bit guilty. "Oh. I'm sorry I haven't spent time with you, but...what does that have to do with liking Paula?"

I sighed. "I'm trying to say I love you, Ness. I just want to spend more time with you. I really miss you and I just want you to love me back-"

As I turned to see Ness' reaction, he put his hands on my shoulders and pressed his lips on mine.

I turned bright red, and Ness pulled away after a few seconds.

He smiled apologetically. "I'm really sorry I haven't hung out with you much. I really do love you back."

I pulled Ness into a hug. "Really?"

He nodded and put his head on my shoulder. I blushed even more as Ness pulled me closer.

After a few moments of his warm embrace, he let go. "I've gotta head home now. See you tomorrow!"

I nodded and blew him a kiss, which made him blush bright red.

I heard Ness walk downstairs, I flopped onto my bed and blushed thinking about what happened.  I finally confessed and it went well!
