Chords(Ness x Reader)

This chapter was based off a headcanon I have that Ness plays guitar sometimes when alone to calm himself. Enjoy!

Reader P.O.V:

"Are you sure your mom's okay with me?" I questioned him as I kept close to him.

Ness smiled reassuringly. "Of course! She's met you many times. She won't have any issue with you coming over."

His constant reassurance calmed me. We walked up the path to his home, and he opened the door and walked in, with me trailing behind. He closed the door behind him and smiled at his mom, who was sitting at the dining table, reading a novel. "Hi mom!"

She looked up from her book. "Hi Ness. Back so soon?" She saw me and smiled. "You even brought your girlfriend with you."

I nodded and smiled politely. "Hello ma'am."

Ness grabbed my hand gently and led me upstairs to his room, then closed the door after the both of us were inside. I looked around the room and noticed an acoustic guitar leaning on tge wall in the corner.

"Wow..." I picked it up and looked it over. It was in great condition, and it obviously meant a lot to Ness. His face lit up when I picked up the guitar. 

I turned to face him. "Do you know how to play it?"

His cheeks flushed a bright red. "Uhh...a little. I'm not that good though."

"Could you teach me how?" 

Ness stopped and looked at the floor for a moment, as if he was internally debating whether ir not he should teach me. He looked back at me and smiled. "Sure."

He sat down om the bed and motioned for me to do the same. I sat in front of him, holding the guitar. "Ok, first of all, that's not how you hold it. Here, let me..." He wrapped his arms around my form to fix the way I held the guitar. This action made my face heat up. The feeling of being in his arms around me felt amazing, even if he only did it to fix how I held the guitar.

After fixing a few things, he put his hands in his lap. "That's better. Now, try strumming the guitar."

I did, and a beautiful noise came out. For the next 30 minutes, Ness taught me a few chords and tricks on guitar, but I was still a beginner, so there was some stuff I still didn't understand.

After a few minutes of guitar lessons, I stopped. "Ness? Could you play something for me?"

He immediately flushed bright red. "Uh...."

I turned to face him and gave him the guitar. "You don't have to sing or anything, just play something."

He still looked extremely embarrassed. "I'm not sure..."

I smiled reassuringly. "I won't judge you, I promise. Just play something for me, please??"

He sighed. "Alright then. Please don't tell anyone."

I just wanted to hear what he knew. "I promise."

After a few moments of awkward silence, he began playing an excerpt of a song I recognized. This was the same melody I'd hear him humming under his breath sometimes. Pollyanna, by Catherine Warwick.

When he finished, I clapped for him. "That was beautiful."

He flushed bright red and smiled. "Thanks..."

He got off the bed and put the guitar back in its resting place in the corner. He sat on the bed facing me and layed down next to me. "I'm kind of tired...."

Not gonna lie, I felt kind of tired too. I layed down next to Ness, and to my surprise, he wrapped his arms around me and pulled me clise to him. My cheeks flushed red and I made a small gasp. Ness smiled at my reaction.

"Didn't mean to startle you. I just wanted you close to me...." He blushed a little while saying this, which made me chuckle.

"It's fine, Ness." There was a beat of silence between us. All I could hear was his even breathing and his steady heartbeat. Then, I heard a low noise from his chest. It changed in pitch several times, then I realized he was humming Pollyanna.

I believe a pot of gold

Why shouldn't I believe the same in you?

I listened to Ness, and after a while, his voice trailed off, and it was replaced by a soft snore from him. I leaned in closer to him and dozed off in his arms to the sound of his steady heartbeat and even breathing.

AN: This work was longer to make than usual. I took a few breaks inbetween, but it cane out good, so that's alright! I'm hoping to release the next chapter faster to make up for it! Have a great day/night!
