Reader P.O.V:
I was lying in my room, just minding my own business when I heard the doorbell rang. At first, I ignored the sound, thinking it was just someone who decided to see my parents, or some bothersome door-to-door salesman. I listened for the sound of someone opening the door downstairs, and then my older sibling called me. "Hey dipshit! Come downstairs, someone's here to see you."
I ignored their obvious annoyance towards me and called back "Who is it?", but there was no response, so I left my room and descended the stairs to see who came to see me, considering the fact that my parents aren't home.
I entered the living room to see my best friend standing there alone, cap in hand. He smiled when he saw me. "Hey (Y/N)! Sorry I came here without telling you before, but I needed help with some schoolwork, so... could you help me out?"
I couldn't help but smile back at his request. "Sure. Let's go upstairs." He followed me upstairs to my room, then I shut the door once both of us were in my room.
I sat down on the bed while Ness sat down next to me and put his bag on his lap, then opened it and pulled out a book. "So, what do you need help on?"
"I just need help studying for a science test. This unit makes no sense."
I had to laugh a little at that remark. Ness was gone for almost a full year, busy saving the world with three other chosen friends he made while away. He missed most of 8th grade, and it's our last month in before summer, so I've been trying to help him catch up on what he missed while he was away.
I'm sure he'll be able to understand though, Ness is a smart guy, and he's mature, yet he's also a fun-loving kid at heart. Those are only some of the things I love about him...
Ness opened the book to a certain page. "Alright, here's the part I'm having issues with."
I leaned close to him so I could see. "Let's see..."
For a few minutes, everything was calm. I explained what I knew as best as I could to Ness, and he understood quickly. I then began quizzing him on the science unit, but after a few minutes we both began getting whiffs of something from the kitchen. Whatever it was, it smelled like chocolate.
After a while, Ness put the book aside and grabbed my hand, making my face flush a little. "Let's go see what that smell's from." We left my room, hand-in-hand and ran down the steps and into the kitchen. There, we saw our older sibling adding marshmallows to three cups of hot chocolate.
I smiled at them appreciatively. "Are these two for us?"
They smiled at me knowingly. "No, I just wanted to have three cups all to myself. Yes, it's for you two." We both thanked them, then walked upstairs with a mug of hot chocolate.
Once we were back in my room, we took a break to enjoy the cocoa my sibling made for us. When we finished them, we put the empty mugs on my bedside table. I decided to take the empty mugs downstairs and wash them, then leave them on the dishrack to dry.
When I came back upstairs to my room, I saw Ness lying on my bed, asleep. He probably dozed off while I was downstairs. I bent down over him and gently shook his shoulder. "Ness? Hello? Wake up..." I saw that this wasn't working, so I began to get off of him when I felt his arms circle my waist and prevent me from getting up. I felt my face heat up and I looked at him.
His eyes were half-lidded, as if he really just woke up, while his cheeks and the tips of his ears were blushing a faint pink, and he had a goofy smile on his face. He turned to the side while still holding onto me so that I was lying on the bed next to him. Once I was beside him, he wrapped his arms around me again and pulled me closer to him, then spoke softly.
"(Y/N), I'm really grateful for how much you've helped me. Not just today, but all these years. Especially when I left to save everyone. You helping me leave Onett was great, even if your parents didn't let you go any further than this town."
I smiled at his appreciation. "Thanks. I'm so happy that you came back safe. We were all worried for you..."
Ness laughed a little at that remark. "I was worried for me too... but hey, at least I'm here now, with someone I love. I'm here with you."
I smiled and leaned onto his chest. "I love you too..." No response. All I heard was a soft snore. I giggled then nuzzled my face into his chest, falling asleep to the sound of his steady heartbeat.
A few hours later, I awoke to the sound of my older sibling barging in. "Hey idiot, your friend's-" They smirked mischievously at the sight of me and Ness cuddling on my bed. "I hope you two didn't do things while I wasn't here..." That made my face heat up once again. "Shut up, moron."
They laughed at my insult. "Anyways, your friend's mom called. He was supposed to be home 20 minutes ago. Wake him up or something." They left the room and of course, didn't close the door.
I grabbed Ness's shoulder and shook him awake. He groaned and slowly opened his eyes. "(Y/N)?"
"Glad you're up. Your mom just called; you were supposed to be home 20 minutes ago." He sighed and reluctantly removed his arms from me, then stood up and put on his cap. He grabbed his textbook and put it in his bag, then began putting on his sneakers and tying the laces. He zipped his bag shut, then got up to leave. He was about to leave my room when he walked back to me and gave me a kiss on the forehead, making my cheeks flush pink.
He smiled at my flustered state. "See you later." I smiled and waved bye as he left the room and closed the door. I heard the sound of the front door opening and shutting, and I knew he left the house.
I thought about Ness while I got ready for bed, then got into bed and pulled the covers over myself. I let the memory of sleeping in his strong arms and listening to his steady heartbeat lull me to sleep.
AN: I've been learning to be more descriptive in my writing, and damn I really like it! Expect more like this in the future. See ya next chapter!
