Mistaken(Ness x Reader)

You were searching through your locker, looking for your science textbook. Eventually you pulled it out of the back of your locker and shut the door. You turned around and almost bumped into someone.

"Whoa! (Y/N), I didn't see you there." It was Ness.

I blushed out of embarrassment. "O-Oh! Sorry."

He smiled apologetically. "No need, that wasn't your fault. How have you been?"

I smiled shyly and was about to answer when I heard someone approaching us.

"Ness! There you are." I recognized the voice; it was Paula Polestar.

Ness turned towards Paula and smiled. Paula looked at me. "Hi (Y/N)! How are you?"

All of a sudden, I didn't want to be there. "Hi Paula... I-I'm just on my way to class."

Ness nodded and Paula began dragging him away by the arm. Ness waved bye quickly, then followed Paula to their class.

I sighed sadly. Ness has been my friend and crush for a long time, but Paula has also been good friends with him, and lately she's been showing obvious interest in being more than friends with him. It looks like Ness really likes her back too, which upsets me. It's not like I dislike Paula, I just miss spending time with Ness; ever since high school started, she goes almost everywhere with him, and I barely get to talk to him anymore.

I went about the rest of the day just staying with my friend group. At the end of the day, I packed up my stuff and began my uninteresting walk home when I heard footsteps trying to catch up to me.

I turned around, and surprisingly it was Ness. " Hey (Y/N)!"

I stopped so he could catch up to me. He smiled gratefully and began walking with me.

"Where's Paula?"

"Something happened at the preschool, so she had to head home early."

We walked in silence for a few minutes before he decided to say something. "So how have you been?"

I looked at him. " I've been fine... how about you?"

He grimaced. "I've been alright, but... I kind of missed you."

I stopped in surprise. "You missed me? I thought you were just gone on Paula."

He looked at me confused. "Paula?? What about her?"

"Well, she's almost always with you, and I thought maybe you liked her back-"

He laughed a little. " I know Paula likes me, but I don't really like her back like that..."

I stared at him in surprise. "Well... do you like anyone?"

He stopped for a second and blushed in embarrassment. "I do, but I'm not sure she likes me back."

I smiled reassuringly back at him, even though I felt sad inside. "Aw, I'm sure that whoever it is, she likes you back."

He smiled a little then blushed even more. By this point, we were at the front of my house, and it looked like no one was home. I knew I should probably go inside, but I really wanted to know who Ness' crush was. "So, who's your crush?"

He smiled guiltily. "I don't think I should say-"

"C'mon, please??" 

"Oh, alright..."

He started blushing again. "The girl I have a crush on is...."

I waited for him to finish his sentence when suddenly, he lowered his head and put his lips on mine.

I turned bright red and froze. After a few seconds, Ness pulled away.

"I have a crush on you (Y/N)."

I guess I still looked surprised, because he continued explaining. 'I-I've had a crush on you since middle school, and I didn't know how to tell you because-" I wrapped my arms around his neck and pressed my lips against his. He froze for a second but then wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer to him.

I pulled away slowly, then smiled at him. "I love you too."

Ness smiled and let go of me.

I walked up to the front door, unlocked it, then went inside, but before I closed the door, I turned to look at Ness. "Does this mean we're dating?" 

Ness blushed a little and smiled. "I guess so."

I giggled and blew him a kiss, which made him blush more, then I waved goodbye and closed the door behind me.

I immediately leaned against the door trying not to scream. Ness actually loves me and we're dating now? That's unbelievable, yet I've been hoping for this ever since elementary school.
