(Y/N) P.O.V:
It was a regular night, and I was just listening to music and reading. In reality, I was just passing the time while I waited for Ness to get home.
Back when I used to live in Onett, I was next door neighbors with a boy named Ness. Because of this, we became really good friends. We played baseball, went to the arcade, and I even helped him a bit when he left to save the world.
After a while, I began developing feelings for him. He was caring, strong, nice, and he was overall a good guy. Everything about him was just lovely. The way he always knew how to cheer someone up, the way he always looked out for his friends, and even some of his stories. At this point, I knew I had fallen for him.
When Ness and I got into high school, I decided to confess my feelings for him, and to my surprise, he actually liked me back. We started dating, and we got married a year after graduating. Right now, we live together in a home in Fourside. Ness has become the batter for the famous baseball team here, the Fourside Foppies.
These past few days, Ness has been sounding less like himself. He's been sounding and looking more drained. Every time I ask if he's okay, he just smiles and says he's fine and I shouldn't worry. However, it's obvious that something's wrong. He's just seemed so out of it.
I was interrupted from my thoughts by the sound of the front door opening, then closing. I heard footsteps towards the bedroom I was in. I looked up from my book to see Ness standing at the doorway.
He looked very tired, and he had a frown on his face. His posture was kind of slumped, and his uniform was kind of dirty. I got off the bed and went to hug him, and to my surprise, he slumped onto me and let out a tired sigh.
"Ness, what's wrong??"
"Sorry, could you just stay here for a minute??" he mumbled.
After he managed to pull himself off of me, I cupped his face with my hands and looked at him. His face had exhausted written all over it, and even his deep blue eyes were missing their usual glow.
"Love, what happened?"
He put his hands on top of mine and gave me a weak smile. "I'm fine, alright? Don't worry about me."
I opened my mouth to argue, but he let go of me and went into the bathroom, leaving me standing there worried for him.
I just laid back on the bed, waiting for him to return.
As I expected, he returned. He was dressed in a white T-shirt and some blue striped pajama pants. His hair was damp and a little rumpled, indicating that he recently got out of the shower.
He laid down on top of me (he's not crushing you don't worry) and laid his head on my neck.
Something's wrong, but he won't say anything. "Ness, what's wrong? You can talk to me, love."
Ness sighed. "(Y/N), I told you, I'm fine."
"Ness..."
"Alright, fine." Ness paused for a moment. "I've just been really exhausted these few weeks. The championship is coming up in a few weeks, and we've been practicing a lot, but that's not the issue."
"I just feel somewhat stressed lately, and sort of upset... Then again, I always do at this time of year."
How could I forget? This was around the time where Ness fought Giygas years ago.
AN: Just in case you were wondering, you and Ness are 21 in this.
Ness always gets nightmares around this time of year, and because of this he tries not to sleep as much. My guess is that he hasn't been getting enough sleep these few days, then tried to play it off, which is a terrible idea considering the championships are coming up soon, and he's been working extra hard.
I reached up and began stroking his hair. "Oh, Ness... why didn't you say anything?"
"I didn't want to bother you."
"You bothered me even more by not saying anything. I've been worried these past few days."
"I know...I'm sorry."
I held his face in-between my hands and smiled at him. "It's fine. Please just try to get afull night of sleep tonight, okay love?"
"Alright." He smiled back, then leaned in, and our lips met.
After a few moments, we pulled away and Ness rested his head on my neck once again.
"Feeling better?"
He yawned. "Yeah..."
I smiled. "I love you, Ness..."
No response. I glanced down to see Ness fast asleep.
I sighed happily and fell asleep with Ness in my arms.
