Insomnia(Ness x Reader)

No one's P.O.V:

"Ugh! I should have just stayed in my own lane..."

(Y/N) was currently in her room, buried under blankets and trying to fall asleep, but it was obviously not working. She was having a sleepover with Ness, and made a stupid mistake.

Hours Earlier...

"Oooooh! What about Halloween?"

"Nonono! Not Halloween!"

Ness looked back at me, a little disappointed. "Oh, come on (Y/N), you promised me that we'd watch at least ONE scary movie!"

I stood up to leave. "Yeah, well I changed my mind! I'm gonna go read a book."

Ness reached out and gently clasped my hand in both of his. "(Y/N), please don't go!"

"I changed my-"

He frowned slightly. "Please? I promise I'll let you choose."

I stopped. Ness might be a little nicer on me and choose a less scary movie. If not, he'll at least let me cover my eyes at the really bad parts. Besides, his hands are really warm, and I did promise him....

"Fine."

Ness smiled as I sat down next to him. "Yes! Don't worry, you can cover your eyes at the scary parts. Sooooo...... Halloween or Scream?"

"I don't know... I guess Scream."

"Okay then."

End of flashback

"I should have just walked away like I said I would..." She sighed as she stared at the ceiling, wide awake.

She froze when she heard the noirette boy walk in, comfortable in his pajamas. She sat up and gave Ness a dissatisfied look.

"I haven't even started sleeping yet and I'm still keyed up from that movie... why'd you ask me to watch it with you before bed?"

Ness gave her an apologetic look. "I didn't think it'd scare you that bad, sorry..." He then smiled a litle to put her at ease. "I didn't think it was really scary,  if I'm being honest."

(Y/N) glared at him in return. "That's because you've fought a creepy evil alien! Nothing's that scary anymore when you see that in person."

Ness nodded, then smiled reassuringly. "Nothing's going to hurt you while you sleep. Besides, if there's anything that could try to hurt you, I'll protect you!"

Even though (Y/N) was still unsettled by the movie, she couldn't help but smile at Ness' attitude. Ness saw this and smiled even wider. "Heyyyyy, there's that smile again! You're glad I'm your knight in shining armor?"

(Y/N) scoffed and playfully threw a pillow at Ness. "Really?" At this, Ness threw the pillow back, knocking (Y/N) flat on her back on the bed. Once she was down, Ness got on top of her and began tickling her sides until she was crying laughing and asking him to stop. 

Once Ness had stopped, he layed down on top of (Y/N) so that his head was on her chest. "Are you still scared?" Everytime Ness spoke, his voice tickled her a tiny bit, since his face was on her chest.

The girl shrugged. "Sort of, but not really..."

"Told you. I'm your knight in shining armor!"

At this (Y/N) rolled her eyes. "Sure...."

There was silence between the two for a beat. Finally, Ness spoke up. "I...I think I love you."

(Y/N) paused. She felt her face heat up. She'd been waiting to hear these words for a long time. She opened her mouth to reply, paused for a moment, then answered back confidently.

"I love you too."

She felt Ness smile against her chest, then she heard a soft snore. She smiled and stroked Ness' messy hair as she drifted off to sleep with him.
