“Seriously, we can write the report ourselves. Just go to Emerald already! You’re going to be late on your first teaching job!”
Cezka had to drag Ike out of their office when the latter still tried to help them write the report about the villain incident yesterday. They’ve just finished eating their lunch, and with still an hour before their patrolling duty, members of their team lounged on the enormous double-decker bed in the corner of the room.
“Professor Sivera only asked for my help on a training session with his students. I’m not actually going to teach. Besides, this is a part of my contract with Emerald when they granted me full scholarship back then,” Ike replied.
As one of the conditions under the scholarship granted to him by Emerald when he started studying, Ike is required to fulfill a set amount of hours by helping or assisting the professors in their lessons. In his case, he’s going to help Professor Sivera in the Elemental Weirdo Course.
“Well, say hello to Faye for me. Take care. Don’t injure any of your students!” Cezka said before slamming the door close.
Now unceremoniously kicked out of his own office, Ike had no choice but to head to the Emerald School of Magic. Thankfully, Professor Sivera didn’t ask him to wear his agent suit. Ike just wore casual clothes, partly because he doesn’t want any more unwanted attention if he wore his suit in public.
As he headed to Emerald in a cab, Ike glanced absentmindedly at the sights passing by the window. The war brought considerable damage to the country, especially the capital city. For months following the end of the war, the entire country tried to rebuild everything. Demand for Telekinesis Weirdos also skyrocketed. Even the big magical schools, which usually rejected Telekinesis Weirdos due to the simplicity of their weirdness, started accepting students with such abilities.
The biggest haul went to Emerald, of course. Before he disappeared, Ezekiel created a sub-course for Telekinesis Weirdos which taught students to manipulate the elements using only Telekinesis. A TV network also made a documentary about Ike’s life as an Emerald student which mentioned his humble beginnings as a Telekinesis Weirdo. With Ezekiel’s illustrious surname and Ike’s inspiring story, Emerald gave new hope to young Telekinesis Weirdos all over the country. This also prompted other schools to follow Emerald’s bold step.
Ike finally arrived at Emerald, and the guards immediately guided the cab to a parking space near the Emerald Building. As he got out of the cab, his eyes were immediately drawn towards a mighty statue of a lady standing at the top of the Emerald Building, gazing down at the school grounds with a gentle smile on her face. Ike stood in silence for several moments to pay his respects to Professor Esmerelda Evanesca.
“Well,” Ike said with a sigh, “I’m finally back, professor.”
“Look who’s here,” a familiar voice suddenly said behind Ike. He turned around and saw a lady with completely white eyes smiling at him. The lady was holding a cane in one hand, and her eyes seemed out of focus as she stared at Ike.
“Good to see you again, Cataleya. . . or should I say, Professor Leskovik?” he said.
The Seer slapped Ike in the leg with her cane. “Don’t make me sound old. Well, the heads of the madhouse are out for a convention. Professors Elena and Ferrea will be back in a couple of days. They left me in charge of the school. Let’s head to the Emerald Building first,” she said.
“It seems they are training you already to be the next head of Emerald,” Ike told Cataleya.
“Don’t be ridiculous,” she snapped at him. “I’m already drowning from all the work as the program adviser of the Mind Weirdo Course. I can’t possibly manage an entire school with my failing vision.”
