Chapter 29: Death Trap

Sorry. Na-explain ko na ba before how Time Lock works? I've been rereading kasi Weirdos and napansin ko na parang 'di ko pa siya napapaliwanag. Mag-e-explain na lang ako while I'm at it.

A Time Lock can only be administered by Temporal Weirdos. When you time-lock a place, you prevent other Temporal Weirdos from teleporting to or creating portals in the specific area that you time-locked. Ikaw lang din ang nag-iisang tao na pwedeng makapag-teleport or makagawa ng portals sa lugar na 'yun. You're also the only person who can lift your own Time Lock. Considering na tatlo pa lang ang Temporal Weirdos sa Weirdo Universe eh it's really powerful.

It doesn't actually freeze (or lock) time. Lel. Also, 'Time Lock' is the name of the skill/technique (meaning it's a noun), while 'time-lock' is the act of executing the technique (verb). Pakiramdam ko mali ang usage ko ng noun and verb, but who cares. Too late na to correct it. Haha.

So 'yun. Siguro naman na-gets niyo na before kung pa'no siya gumagana with the way kung pa'no ko siya gamitin sa stories. Still, I want to explain it para naman walang malito.

Ike's POV

The weather in the mountains has always been chilly and wet, but the middle of September brought unbelievable cold and rain to the people living on, inside, and around the Terreña Mountain Range. The mountains are clothed by a sprawling expanse of thick rainforest, which meant that rain was a regular part of everyone's lives; but the full onslaught of the rainy season soaked nearly every square inch of the land.

Fortunately for us living in the Tunnels, we don't have to deal that much with the rain and the cold. The same thing can't be said for us during our training sessions, though. We're all at the mercy of the elements whenever we take a step outside our underground hideout.

We all have adjusted to life in the Tunnels and Camp Three over the past few weeks. Ezekiel was also finally able to build a new surveillance room. Yvanna and her spy team were able to gather important information regarding the current activities of the Legion. Also, due to the continuous denial of the national government for an independent investigation by the Agents International, the best thing that Ezekiel could do was to maintain a constant communication with his bosses in the AI. They've also sent funds and equipment to help our cause. The AI have also vowed to ask help from international organizations in order to stop the reign of the villains in the country.

All over the country, various attacks on and killings of non-magical people are on the rise. People who also dare to oppose the current administration in public have been disappearing without a single trace. As expected, the villains have all taken the highest positions in the NMLEA, Department of Magic, and the national government—leaving the people on the lower part of the hierarchy of power confused, afraid, and in disarray. Ezekiel and our seniors are trying their best to alleviate the mass hysteria by spreading word about our existence and our goal of bringing peace back to the country.

"We finally have a clear picture of the power matrix of the people currently in control of the country," Ezekiel had told us in one of our meetings. "As we all know, Serafina is on top of everything and everyone, and she's steering the wheel from the high chair in Emerald."
