Chapter 20: Last Laugh

Ike's POV

"No. . ." I whispered weakly as the red pearl plummeted back to the earth along with RB. If it were an ordinary falling incident, I would've been able to pick it up as quickly as it had fallen; but we are currently several hundred feet up in the sky and trying to escape the wrath of Serafina. Going back is tantamount to shooting ourselves right in the head. Ezekiel was still on the ground and aiding our escape, and I couldn't see any other people around that could help us.

I tried reactivating the overwhelming powers that I had felt just moments ago, but not even a single spark erupted from my body. Just when I was about to use my telekinesis, a giant claw suddenly wrapped around my body before tossing me high into the air. I landed a second later on the fluffy back of a giant eagle that was Philip.

"We have to get RB!" I shouted to Tony who was also riding the eagle. "He's still unconscious! We have to get him back!"

"Of course you're going to say that," Tony replied with a smile. "Grab on!"

The eagle nearly went vertical as it dived straight towards the ground. Then, all of a sudden, something green and small dashed from behind me and shot towards the plummeting red pearl. It was my emerald butterfly. Its wings were slightly broken by the blast but it was still miraculously alive and flying. It shot straight towards the red pearl before flying further towards its target.

The emerald butterfly finally reached its final target. Both the butterfly and the red pearl vaporized into smoke that suddenly crept all over RB's body. The ominous markings on his body suddenly disappeared, and the darkness covering his eyes receded. Even his hair returned to their familiar grey and purple hue.

I jumped from the eagle before blasting my way against the upward pull of Ezekiel's telekinesis. The latter must've finally realized what I was trying to do because the powerful force that was holding me back suddenly disappeared, and I started plummeting back to the earth as well.

"RB!" I shouted with all my strength, my voice echoing around us.

RB flinched in surprise upon seeing me hurtling towards him. Then, without any warning, a pair of majestic crystal wings made of nearly all gems suddenly sprouted from his back. At the same time, a beautiful shower of multicolored gemstones rained down below him. RB regained his balance in the air before flying towards me with the help of his multicolored wings.

"IKE!" he shouted back as tears fell from his eyes.

However, tentacles made of black liquid suddenly sprouted from the ground and shot towards him. Serafina and several villains also flew after us.

"IN YOUR DREAMS!" Faye suddenly shouted as she and the rest of our classmates and friends plummeted past me and fended off the tentacles attacking RB. Even those who couldn't fly jumped into the air just to fight the villains. Light, fire, ice, rocks, and nearly all things imaginable were thrown by our members at the advancing darkness just to help RB escape.

Cezka held RB's hand and propelled him towards me with a powerful updraft. Jethro appeared next and blasted RB with his fire. Lastly, Ezekiel flew towards us and blasted me downward towards RB who was zooming towards me.

The two of us finally reached each other, and all I could do was wrap my arms around him tightly and cry on his shoulders. Even RB was also crying, his wings suddenly transforming into hundreds of crystal butterflies that flew around us.

"I love you. . ." I whispered to him.

"We're still plummeting back to the ground, for your info," RB replied, half smiling and half crying.

I smiled back at him despite the tears smearing my face. "Who cares? I already have you," I said before resting my forehead against his.

"That's all for tonight, suckers!" Ezekiel shouted from above us. "See you later!"
