Chapter 50: Unity of the Divided

"Ike, this is Yvanna," the Haywire Weirdo suddenly said through Ike's earphone as the people around them let out cries of joy and victory. "The villains have entered the capital city. You should execute the next phase of the plan as soon as possible. We're waiting."

Ike and RB looked at each other before heading towards Professor Elena.

"The Legion is here," RB said to the lady in blue. "Serafina will surely launch an offensive any moment and hunt us down. We need to assemble as much people as we can while we still have time."

Alice produced a phone from her pocket. "Well, good thing that Yvanna lent me her phone. Let's get you on national television, Ike."

"Okay," Ike said before turning to Faye. "Tell the others about the plan. I just need to do something."

"Leave them to me," the Healer replied before heading towards the crowd.

Professor Elena, Alice, RB, and Ike all headed inside the Emerald Building. After finding a good a good spot in one of the hallways, Professor Elena and RB stood behind Ike who faced Alice. The Metallic Ropes Weirdo aimed Yvanna's phone at the three just as Yvanna started speaking again.

"Got the live feed," she said through their earphones. "I am about to broadcast you to all radio and television networks in the country, as well as all phones and electronic billboards. Wait a second. . . Okay. Get ready to speak in three. . . two. . . one. . ."

Ike closed his eyes for a moment and took a deep breath before focusing his green eyes on the phone being held by Alice.

"Good evening. I am Ike Vista Lunaria, and I fight for the good."

His voice echoed all over the school grounds via the PA system, breaking the heavy silence suffocating the entire school.

"I know that all of you are wondering why I suddenly appeared on your television or phone. I am here because I am pleading. I am here because I need your help. For the past few months, this country has suffered under the forces of darkness. Thousands sacrificed lives, millions endured abuse. Even us also experienced the horrors that you've seen and felt."

"For months, you were blinded and divided by confusion and fear. Those are the reasons why the darkness was able to sink its claws in the cracks in our society, strangling us in a death grip. They made you doubtful and suspicious of each other, so that they'd be able to sow misinformation and false ideas in your minds. Their tactic was to divide us. They know that unity is our greatest strength, that's why they took it away from us the moment they tried to rise to power."

Ike gestured at the two persons behind him.

"Now we are here because we want to unite the divided. As I speak, our forces are trying to free the president and take back control over the NMLEA. However, those are just skirmishes in this war. There is a bigger fight coming. With us alone, we won't stand a chance against the darkness. To our agents and other members of the national defense, now is the time for you to show that you are indeed the protectors of the people. To the others, you don't have to fight with us just to show your support. Protect our non-magical brethren. Keep them safe from people who look down on them as inferior, as people who are of lesser value."

Ike paused. "I know that you're all feeling uncertain and afraid. The forces of darkness might be too great for us to face. However, let us all remember that evil cannot and will never win for as long as we stand strong against it. We are fighting for something that the Legion doesn't have. We are fighting for the good. We are fighting for a better tomorrow. We are fighting for our loved ones, for each other."

"I am just a boy, and I know that I won't be able to convince all of you. Just like you, I also have a family. You have thousands of reasons not to fight with us, but for as long as you're protecting your family, your loved ones, then we are fighting for the same cause. Thank you very much for your time. Good evening."
