Chapter 55: Last Stand

"There. . . That should be enough," Nurse Juliana said after pouring the last bottle of thick, pearly-white potion on Ezekiel's injuries. The potion seemed to washed away the black substance on Ezekiel's body. The Strength Potion that they also gave him earlier seemed to be finally taking effect as the guy in black was able to pull himself up on a sitting position.

"Thanks a lot, Nurse Juliana," Ezekiel said.

"You shouldn't move. Rest," Professor Sivera said to him.

"There is a war going on here. I'm not resting until this thing is over," the guy in black said before lifting himself up with his Telekinesis. "Where's Ike and RB?"

The others looked at each other. "Serafina captured RB. She threatened Ike that she's going to kill RB if he doesn't go to her alone," Faye said.

Ezekiel slapped his own forehead. "Where did Ike go?"

"Serafina brought RB up in the sky. They're probably several thousands of feet above the Earth right now," Tony said.

The guy in black pressed his earphone. "Yvanna? Hack into all the satellites around the Earth. Find Ike and RB ASAP."

The Haywire Weirdo hesitated for several moments. "Uh. . . About that. . . I've been monitoring them since Ike left to go after RB. . ."

"Good. Where are they?"

Silence.

"Yvanna?"

"They. . . They fought with Serafina just moments ago. They also fused. . . but. . ."

Judging from the tensed faces around them, it seems that Yvanna was also broadcasting her message to everyone else.

"But what?" the guy in black asked, his voice trembling.

"Serafina was able to control them. I couldn't get a closer look but she was able to control the fusion. Then. . . they suddenly stopped moving. Serafina isn't fighting them anymore. . . I think they're gone, Ezekiel."

With this, Faye suddenly crouched before burying her face on her hands.

"Are you sure?" Ezekiel asked Yvanna.

"Maybe they're still alive. . ." the Haywire Weirdo said, but her own voice was full of doubt and uncertainty. "Serafina looks like she's about to do something. . ."

Right after she said those words, a loud boom echoed across the entire place. Ezekiel flicked his hands at the sky to remove the clouds obstructing their view.

"People of the Earth!" Serafina declared, her mighty voice echoing around them. "I am Serafina, and I have come to save you. To my brothers and sisters, our time has come to finally rule over this world. You've been living under the judgmental eyes of the people who couldn't understand your unique abilities. You've suffered and died for being different, for being superior. The day of reckoning has come! Join me in this new world that I am about to create. We are the next page in the human evolution, therefore we, and only we, have the right to inherit and rule this world."

"It's time to set our differences aside. It's time to look beyond color, religion, race, and gender. It's time to look beyond those petty, insignificant things and start treating each other as equals, as people with noble blood running in our veins. I am about to unleash a global catastrophe to destroy everything that man has built over the past thousands of years. Their monuments and fortresses will fall under the sheer might of our power. In order to free the world of dirt and vermin, we must destroy everything and rebuild the world from the ashes and rubble. To my brothers and sister, you need not to worry. If you are powerful, if you are mighty, then you are going to survive this purge!"
