"Hey, kid. The one with the black hair. Hey."
Jelal stopped in his tracks before turning around and giving a flat stare to the man who called him. He immediately recognized the middle-aged man with grey hair and yellowish skin to be Sid, the Plague Weirdo and one of the villains that Serafina pulled out from the Time Citadel.
"What do you want from me?"
The members of the Legion just had a meeting with Jaeron and Rubio. For some strange reason, Serafina wasn't in Emerald tonight. According to her right hand, she's out for an important business. Jelal had seen RB head towards the right wing of the Emerald Building and so he followed his friend. Jelal hasn't even gotten that far when Sid called him, and judging from the sour expression on the former's face, he's not probably going to say something nice.
The Plague Weirdo stepped forward several paces as if trying to be intimidating, but Jelal just gave him a bored stare. The three other villains from the Citadel were also with him.
"Are you sure you're taking this seriously?" Sid asked him.
"Taking what seriously?" Jelal fired back.
"This!" the Plague Weirdo replied, gesturing around him. "I'm respecting you because we're both from the Citadel, but I've noticed that you don't seem to be taking things seriously. Let me just tell you that we are going to help Serafina in every way we can. She pulled us out of that wretched place, so why don't you start acting grateful about it?"
Jelal shrugged his shoulders. "Well, aren't you guys loyal? You're right. She pulled us out of that shithole, but I never asked her, or anyone, to release me from that place. I don't even care if I shrivel up and die in that place. Besides, our life here isn't much different from our life in the Citadel. We're still imprisoned."
"But who am I to blame you for feeling like that?" he added before turning around and walking away. "I'm sorry but I'm not like you who hangs his tongue out and wags his tail excitedly whenever Serafina's waltzing around. You should try putting a leash around you neck. It'll suit you even more. Trust me."
Sid dashed towards him angrily. "WHAT DID YOU SAY, YOU LITTLE BRAT?!"
Jelal turned around before aiming his smoking hand at Sid. "Don't you even dare to touch me with your filthy hands," he said in a low voice as black smoke whirled around his hand. "I know what kind of person you are, and people like you disgust me the most. I had killed prideful and self-righteous men like you before, and they always seemed to be the most frightful in the hands of death."
Jelal glared at Sid and the others before walking away.
With RB's memories erased, Jelal had nowhere else to go. He couldn't just leave because the Legion might get suspicious, and even if he wanted to ask for outside help, he doesn't know whom to trust. One wrong move and he's definitely dead. RB is the only person on Earth who knows his true motive.
For the past several weeks, Jelal has been trying really hard to detect any faint traces of RB's old self. Unfortunately, it seems that his weirdness had taken total control of his entire consciousness. Jelal was forced to watch from afar when RB accepted the full power of the Prime Destruction due to the clever illusions created by one of the villains and Serafina.
Just be thankful that this new RB didn't remember what you did when he was still imprisoned, Jelal thought the next day when he saw the new but darker RB. Otherwise you would've been dead right now.
Now, with Serafina away, Jelal is going to try to bring RB's old self back—just like what he promised to him. The question is, how?
Thanks to Sid, Jelal totally lost sight of RB. Tracking his old friend by instinct, he searched all the rooms and halls inside the Emerald Building. He was about to give up when RB suddenly appeared behind him like a phantom.
