Chapter 47: Tricks and Treats

Ike's POV

"Now, obviously, the Legion will learn about our mission. I mean, duh, we're going to make a major institution explode. By doing this, we're also probably going to expose the fact that we've finally found RB's heart. Serafina isn't dumb. She's going to realize sooner or later that she can no longer control the Prime Destruction," said Ezekiel, addressing the hundreds of people in front of him.

"Fair point," I said.

"And that brings us to our second agenda for today," the guy in black continued, scanning the crowd with his cosmic eyes. "Several weeks ago, we received a major report from one of our sources."

He paused.

"Serafina is planning to launch a massive attack on this mountain range."

Panicked murmurs rippled across the hall. Ezekiel immediately raised his hands to silence the crowd.

"Please calm down," he said. "Well, Professor Ferrea sent us a detailed plan of invasion crafted by the Legion. It seems that they've been using satellite imagery to locate the camps. They're only having trouble pinpointing our location because of my defensive magic—"

"Of course you're going to say that," Crimson said.

"Shut up. Anyway, their plan involves the use of military weapons along with the magical prowess of the Legion in order to drive us out of our hiding place. Apart from surrounding the mountains in all direction and literally burning them to the ground, they're also planning to destroy Ahren and Maia's farm. I'm afraid they've finally uncovered the real purpose of that farm down below," Ezekiel continued.

The guy in black turned his eyes to us. "Also, it seems that it was Devon who stole this battle plan and gave it to Professor Ferrea. I believe you guys have a history with him?"

"Yeah. I miss that guy. He almost killed me," Alice said.

"Who would've thought. . ." RB whispered.

"We don't have to worry about the authenticity and credibility of this report. Professor Ferrea made sure that Devon was telling the truth," Ezekiel said before turning back to our topic.

"We've been causing some problems with the Legion for several weeks. I believe that Serafina is at the very edge of her patience right now, and one more major setback to her plans will make her snap. If we successfully destroy PWRI and Serafina learns about the retrieval of the Death Core, I'm sure she will reach her limit and finally launch an attack on these mountains," he continued.

Fred Lena stepped forward. "That's why we're being proactive. Ever since we received that report, we've created plans on how exactly to deal with the attack. Well, to begin with, we're not going to defend this place."

My mouth fell open. "What? Have you lost your minds?" I asked. Even the others just stared in utter disbelief at the seniors.

Ezekiel cleared his throat. "We're going to take back control over the country on the day they decide to attack."

"Once they attack us, it's only sensible to think that they're going to use their full force to take us down. In order to do that, they will need their best people. All their people. That will leave the capital city wide open. The Legion will be greeted with nothing but trees and dummies."

"How about the people here?" RB asked.

"Those who cannot fight will hide in the Tunnels," Matilda replied. "Based from the report, it seems that they don't have any idea about the existence of Camp Five. Besides, even if they do know about the Tunnels, it would be impossible for them to locate it. We'll be safe from all the fire and explosion down there."
