LAURA’S POV:
“I take responsibility for all the irrational and dreadful actions of Gaby.” I told Mr. Stephen Colbert. “The world may currently see her as a mentally unstable alcoholic and drug addict but that is FAR from the truth. None of these would have happened if I acted rightly. All she wanted was her daughter.”
“Her daughter?” Stephen quizzically looked at me.
“Yes. Her daughter.” I paused. “TEQUILA may share the same DnA with me but, she has been the daughter of Gabriella Dalmonte from the minute she was born.” One or two from the audience clapped while everyone else was silent. “I do not think I have the right to call her mine when I never acted like her mom.”
It’s been three months since the crisis happened in my ancestral home. And a lot has...changed. I can still remember Gaby blacking out the moment my cousin went unconscious. The fear of him dying enveloped her which maybe brought back soberness.
Oh Love.
I arranged the creases on my dress as I crossed my legs — staring at the little audience watching my every move, along with the host.
For over three months, prominent members of my family has continuously been invited by different shows, magazines, and blogs to find out what truly happened behind the closed doors of my three hundred year old ancestral home.
Everyone hesitated, it was too personal. But in the process, Gabriella was blacklisted by the world — and my family. My family might see Gabriella differently, but the truth is that I am the villain of the story, and sadly, that’s not how EVERYONE viewed it.
Despite she being #1 in every gossip internationally, her career looked like it was hanging over Mount Everest. And I am to blame. I’ve been trying to keep quiet because of Uncle Andrew and my horrible mother but I can’t anymore.
Mr. Colbert was more than happy to receive my acceptance letter regarding his request. I was beyond nervous when coming here but I don’t care anymore, everyone needs to know. I wanna set Gaby free.
“So how did you know Gabriella Dalmonte?”
I chuckled hesitantly. “Well, I was really close to my cousin Andrea when I was in my second year in school. We’d literally talk on the phone ALL the time, despite the distance between America and Europe. She would sometimes tell me of this girl in her class that my cousin — André was supposedly crazy about. I would laugh over it considering my cousin was a little fuck boy...” I covered my mouth with my palms as soon as I realised I just cussed on TV.
The audience laughed at my self reaction.
“Oh my, am I allowed to cuss?” I gave a nervous smile. I’ve never done this before.
“Don’t worry we got you covered.” Steven assured and chuckled.
“Oh that’s good.” I continued. “So André being the little.......that he is, I always laughed it off. Few months later, I was coming back from school. I already arrived at L.A with my friends and we were driving — in like the middle of the night by the way....” I continued to tell him the story of how I brought her out of the car and the whole oil tanker stuff.
The audience along with Stephen exclaimed as I told the story. “So you were involved in that crazy....I don’t even know what to call it!....that happened is it six or seven years ago?” I nodded at his question. “But it was only the body of the driver and a nearby car with a family inside that was found.”
