╭──────༺♡༻──────╮Cute. That was the first word that came to mind when Chan thought of his utterly adorable friend Jeongin. That was the word that anyone would first think of upon first glance of him.
The key word being was.
Chan left for Australia every Summer to visit family and he was used to coming back to see his cute friend waiting for him with a cute little pout on his face and a cute smile that showed off his braces.
That's what he had become accustomed to up until the summer before Jeongin was to start attending college with him.
For some reason, he didn't exactly comprehend the fact that braces aren't needed permanently and that apparently, at some point, people do mature. He just never imagined Jeongin would be one to change too drastically.
He quickly rushed to his car which had been left in the parking lot for months while he was in Australia. He may have driven a bit over the speed limit but he was way more focused on the fact that he was going to get to see the adorable smile he missed so much while he was gone...and for the warm welcome hug that he always received.
He pulled into the driveway to go to Jeongin's home since they still had about a week left before classes started and he knew the younger hadn't yet moved into a dorm. He said that moving all of the boxes by himself was too much work so he would just wait for Chan. Which the older didn't mind at all.
He quickly turned off his car and practically ran to the front door.
It was opened a few seconds later by Jeongin's mom who smiled at him and let him inside, asking him questions such as how his summer was and if he had a nice time in Australia.
He responded but with the least amount of details as possible as he tried to rush up the stairs.
"Chan sweetie," Mrs. Yang called out which caused Chan to freeze with another small sigh.
"Yes?"
"Jeongin isn't home yet. He's been gone for a while though so I'm sure he will be very soon. You can wait upstairs in his room if you want to, I just wanted to let you know."
"Where is he?"
"Well- he's made quite a lot of new friends over the summer so I'd assume he's out with one of them," she explained as Chan frowned. Jeongin was aware of the day and time Chan was set to return and he's never forgotten before. The more Chan had thought about it though...Jeongin barely even texted him over the summer.
"Oh, okay. I'll go wait upstairs." Chan said as he proceeded to make his way to the younger's room.
Yet another thing that was different but he assumed that it was because he had already begun packing his stuff.
All of his usual plushies were gone, he had makeup on his vanity which was surprising because he was cute enough naturally...Chan couldn't imagine him ever needing any. His closet also seemed a bit darker, or rather just seemed like it belonged to a different person entirely. What used to be bright or pastel-colored cardigans were replaced with black, white, and grey sleeveless tees.
To say Chan was confused would be an understatement. He was almost scared to see Jeongin when he did come back.
However, he managed to tell himself that he was still going to be his cute, smiley, adorable Jeongin that nearly cried before he left for the summer.
