Lambert cracked another egg and smiled as it sizzled in the hot skillet, the smell of breakfast wafted through his small house in the village that he shared with his new husband. Lambert cracked another egg and swirled the pan watching the yolk turn in a clockwise motion before he set it back over the heat. He poured two cups of juice that he added a splash of mead to each before setting them on the table.

He usually wasn't a man of soft caring actions but with Jaskier he was different. His song bird changed his whole world. He returned to the cooking eggs and set them on separate plates before he began to cook up some sliced ham. He smiled as the scent wafted through the house and out the window through the village, everyone was always jealous of his cooking skills and of his lovers myriad of skills.

Lambert appreciated the watching eyes, liked knowing people wanted what he had. He vowed to protect Jaskier with his life, and he wanted what they had to never change. He did the one thing he never thought he would do when he took Jaskier's hand.

Quit the path.

Even for a year, he never thought he would do it, but he wanted time with Jaskier before returning to it. He knew it was dangerous, knew there was a chance he would never return to his lover and he had to make sure he gave Jaskier everything, so he decided to wait a year before he went back on the path.

Jaskier swore he would be okay if he went back to it right away, but Lambert knew he was worried. He wanted to travel with him, which was the plan regardless of what they did, but Lambert wanted one year of just them. He would go back eventually, and he would take Jaskier with him if he decided at that time he wanted to go.

He smiled and placed the plates on the table, he eyed the buttercups in the vase on the center of the table. He was never one to decorate or care about little things like that but Jaskier loved little things like that, he liked flowers and decorating their village home. He always made sure to do his best to make their place inviting. He knew Lambert didn't care much for things like that, but he wanted to be able to give Lambert those little comforts that he never had growing up as a young Witcher.

Lambert made his way to their room and smiled looking down at Jaskier who was curled up in their bed wearing one of his tops as his night clothing. "Song bird," he ran his thumb over his cheek, "wake up pretty thing."

Jaskier turned over slightly, he smiled blinking awake. "Morning." He sat upright and Lambert took him in his arms, the young bard let out a delighted giggle as he carried him into the dining room and set him on a chair. "You made breakfast." Jaskier smiled softly looking over the meal before him. It smelt heavenly, he was absolutely enthralled by it.

When he first met Lambert he never expected for them to fall in love, Lambert was brash and extremely harsh at first. He didn't understand his feelings for the bard. Jaskier was nothing like he had ever seen before, it was a shock when he realized that the feelings he was having was not annoyance but instead was love.

"I hope its okay, quail eggs and chicken eggs wasn't sure which you would prefer I haven't made those for you before." Lambert smiled as he sat across from his husband. "Was it okay?"

"It was yes," Jaskier smiled leaning forward and grabbed his hand kissing it. He ran his smooth thumb along his rough palm, their lives were so different but together they worked wonderfully together. Jaskier loved his Witcher more than he knew how to explain, he was lucky to have him. "Thank you Lambert."

Lambert smiled and caressed his cheek as they went to their meal. "Jaskier I wanted to talk to you about my plans for the path."

Jaskier looked up with a curt nod enjoying his meal happily, "Anything darling."

Lambert smiled, he loved Jakier's little nicknames. "I want to go back, but in a year. I want to give us time together before I go, I.... well you don't have come along. I know you said you wouldn't mind it but it is dangerous. Monsters and man all are dangerous."

"Exactly my love, and that's why I want to come alone. So I know you will be safe, so you'll have someone to bathe you, sleep beside you, and just be there with you. I wouldn't allow you to go by yourself, if something terrible does happen. Which I don't know if I could live through, at leas tI would know instead of be waiting for a letter from you and instead be met with a medallion and sorrow from one of your brothers. I could never lose you, but if. .if something goes wrong I would at least know instead of being waiting for more heartbreak."

Lambert tried not to allow those pesky emotions that so many claimed Witchers didn't have to take over as Jaskier squeezed his hand as he took another mouthful of egg. "Truly darling, I would want to go with you, I can sing tales of you as we go village to village. Make us some coin on top of what you get for your jobs, I want to help support us. I know you can do it, I know that you're used to only worrying about yourself but its us now not just you. We are a couple, it is about us, our plans, our future, our goals. I want to help support you in everything you want to do, so I would want to be there if you'll allow me to be."

Lambert smiled softly at him. "If you want to be there I will not deny you, but I do ask you listen to me, and you stay safe for me. I don't want you stepping into any fight, I don't want you to get in the way. I need you safe, I need you waiting for me to come out of it do you understand me?"

Jaskier grinned. "As long as I get to hear all of your stories and you come back to me safe."

Jaskier stood up and wrapped his arms around his neck kissing him lovingly. "I will always come back to you safe my song bird, and I will tell you all of my stories." Lambert promised.
