He leaned in and she rose to stand on her tiptoes, meeting him halfway. It was just a lingering touch of lips and Stevie was ready to take it further as her hands slid up Lindsey's chest until she locked them around his neck. He drew her in closer and parted his lips, but as she tried to reciprocate, he held back, breathing heavily, he opened his eyes and so did she. He stepped back and she felt embarrassed.
Stevie still felt embarrassed, thinking about the silent walk back to the hotel. She couldn't stop thinking about it. Barely anything happened, but it was enough to keep her up for the most of the night.
"You didn't hear a word I said, did you?" Dean stated, it wasn't a question. "Seriously? I don't understand you. One minute you're nagging me about not spending time with you, but when I do, it seems like you no longer want to."
Stevie frowned as she faced Dean, she hadn't realized he was talking to her. "I'm sorry. You were saying?"
"This is bullshit." Dean let go of his cutlery, which clinked loudly against his breakfast plate. "Make up your goddamn mind."
"Dean, I'm sorry." Stevie repeated, covering his hand with her across the table to keep him from leaving. "I just... I didn't sleep very well, I'm tired. I zoned out for a minute."
"Yeah and why didn't you sleep very well, huh?" He raised an eyebrow, folding his arms over his chest as he leaned back against the chair. "Where were you? When did you come back?"
"I was... out." Stevie shrugged, bringing her coffee cup up to her mouth. "I had a drink, went for a walk."
"Alone?"
"Of course, who else with?" Stevie responded with a question, sounding defensive.
"I woke up around 2 am and you still weren't with me." Dean leaned in closer, lowering his voice, having noticed a couple other guests looking their way. "You were just walking around for hours?"
"If you have something to say, then say it." Stevie glared at him, knowing that she really had no right to be talking to him in that tone.
He kept their eyes locked for a moment longer, he then picked up his fork to finish eating. "Just make sure you don't go wandering around by yourself every night."
"If you promise, you'll do something with me, I won't have to." Stevie shrugged, shaking her head slightly.
"Oh, I intend to." Dean nodded.
They grew silent. Stevie wasn't hungry, she just sat, sipping her coffee as she observed her surroundings. The last thing she wanted now was to have Dean anywhere near her. If he was by her side, she would have no chance of seeing Lindsey again. And she wanted to, badly, in spite of how their previous night ended.
Just as the thought of Lindsey entered Stevie's mind, Lindsey himself came into her line of sight. She held her breath and looked away, hoping that he hadn't seen her. He didn't show it as he passed by the table she and Dean were sitting at, but he definitely saw her. Stevie risked turning her head his way and when she did, he looked back over his shoulder. She quickly faced Dean, who narrowed his eyes at her.
