"You're unusually quiet." Stevie noted, lightly grazing Lindsey's chest with her nails as she lay cuddled up to his side. "What's going through your mind?"
Lindsey wasn't asleep yet, but if she had stayed quiet for a few minutes longer, he would have likely drifted off. He forced his eyes to open and tightened his hold on her, pressing a kiss to her hair.
"You were lulling me to sleep, that's all." It was partly true. "I didn't sleep much last night."
"Me either." Stevie admitted, draping her leg over his. "What kept you up?"
He really didn't want to answer that question. "Oh, you know..." He shrugged and showered her to turn on her other side so he could spoon her.
"I don't, that's why I'm asking." Stevie heard him sigh, he remained quiet. She placed her hand on his, resting on her middle. "I had trouble sleeping because you weren't here."
Suddenly, Lindsey was more alert. He swallowed uneasily and moved in closer, burying his face in her hair. "Same reason." His voice was muffled, but she heard him loud and clear. "And I don't know, how I feel about that." Lindsey added.
"Are you afraid?"
She felt him kiss her shoulder dimple then nod. "I'm just not sure, what I'm afraid of. I mean, there were no promises. I knew, what I was getting myself into."
"I don't think, either of us knew." Stevie gulped, lacing her fingers through his. "No offense, but you were meant to stay just that one night."
Lindsey laughed lightly, he breathed in deeply and exhaled heavily. "None taken."
"I thought about a lot of things while I was alone." Stevie continued, wondering that maybe she shouldn't have. "I guess, you were right, saying that I'm just waiting for someone better to come along. I don't love Dean, not anymore. At least, not in the way I used to. I was scared to just up and leave, though, you know?"
"Honestly, I can't say that I do. I haven't really had a serious relationship, none of them lasted for longer than a few months. I never got to the part, where it was difficult to let the other person go." Lindsey elaborated, unsure if he had turned himself into a walking red flag or not. "At the same time, I don't see the point in dragging things out."
"Thanks." Stevie scoffed and felt his lips press against her skin again, she smiled, she wasn't really mad at him for saying that. "Have you thought about..."
"About what?" Lindsey gave her a little push, when she went quiet.
"If perhaps this could continue, when we're back home?" She finished, opening her heart to him.
"Is my answer going to influence the course of your relationship with Dean?" Lindsey had to know. He didn't want her to make empty promises then and there based on his response.
"It might speed things up." She shrugged, giving him the best she could at that moment. "Either way, he and I are over, Lindsey. I couldn't possible go back to him and pretend that you and I never happened."
"Then maybe this could continue, when we're back home." He replied.
