The words echoed in Lindsey's head for a moment as he blankly stared at Stevie's back. That was the last thing he expected to hear. Then the second part of what she said came back to him and he shook himself mentally, he moved towards her and lay a hand on her hip to try and catch her attention. She didn't acknowledge it.
"What-" Lindsey paused to clear his throat. "What did I say? When?"
He heard Stevie sniffle and saw her hand go up to wipe away tears. "Th-the first night w-we spent together." He hated how absolutely terrified she sounded. "You told me, you didn't want a-any kids."
Lindsey sighed and shook his head even though she couldn't see it. "Stevie that was nearly a year ago. I said it, when I thought that you were just a one night stand. Didn't it occur to you that I've change my mind since then? Don't you think that I'm seeing things a bit differently now?"
She lay silent, her eyebrows creased. No, no she hadn't thought about any of that. Stevie shook her head in response and felt Lindsey attempting to turn her around so they were face to face. She let him.
"I love you." Lindsey said, cupping her cheek. "I know that we kind of just been enjoying being together for a while now, that we haven't exactly discussed, what our future might look like, but... I'm planning on staying." A somewhat shy smile crossed his lips. "Whether you like it or not."
"S-seriously?" Stevie asked, having expected every type of reaction from him but the one she got.
"Yes." Lindsey nodded, seeing her finally starting to relax. "Of course, I'm serious. If I'm completely honest with you, I thought, we'd get married first or I would have at least proposed by the time you told me, you were carrying my baby, but..." He noticed the corners of her mouth turning upwards slightly. "I mean, it is mine, ri-" He couldn't even get out the full sentence before he received a slap on his upper arm. "I love you." He repeated. "And I'm going to love our baby just as much. You don't have to think about it, you don't have to question it, you don't have to doubt my words." Lindsey placed a hand over his heart. "I'm here, I swear."
The only way she knew how to respond was tears once again. This time, however, those were ones of relief. It felt as if a huge weight had been lifted off her chest and she lifted her arms up to wrap them around his neck, she brought him down for a kiss.
"I love you, too." Stevie said, pecking him on the lips once more. "Now, go wash that disgusting lipstick stain off your neck."
