"Who in their right mind would let you wander around by yourself?" He asked, showing for the bartender to approach them.

"Tell me your name first and I'll answer your question." Stevie replied, then turned to ask for a glass of wine.

"Lindsey." He held out his hand.

"Nice to meet you, Lindsey." She shook his hand, introducing herself as well. "And to answer your question, nobody has the right to allow me to do things." She shook her head. "I don't ask for permission."

"Oh." Lindsey laughed lightly, lifting his glass up for a sip.

"And you?" Stevie asked, her eyebrow slightly raised. "Were you just waiting for a woman to join you?"

"I wasn't, but it worked, didn't it?" He smirked and she cast her eyes down, shrugging her shoulders.

"I guess, it did. Forgive me for being so presumptuous." Stevie added. "You could have been enjoying someone else's company already."

"No." Lindsey shook his head. "I'm all alone." He looked away and took another sip. "But you're not."

"Well, technically not." Stevie sighed, circling the rim of her glass with the pad of her finger. "Unfortunately, my partner is more interested in sending out work emails than spending time with me."

"He's an idiot then." Lindsey shrugged, locking their eyes.

"For the most part." Stevie agreed and steered the conversation away from Dean. "So, you're vacationing by yourself?"

"Is it weird?" Lindsey asked and laughed somewhat nervously. "I just wanted to get away for a while."

"Why would it be weird?" Stevie's eyebrows creased as she looked at him, waiting for him to respond.

"People don't usually travel to such beautiful places alone. I could have stayed in bed or had a drink at home." Lindsey called the bartender for refill as soon as he knocked back the remainder of his whiskey.

"Something made you want to get away." Stevie gave him a sympathetic look, laying a hand on his shoulder, which made him face her. "It's not weird. The second my boyfriend and I landed, I wished, I came her by myself."

"What's your story then?" Lindsey cocked his head to one side, allowing his eyes to wander for a second, while Stevie looked away. "Surely, you could find yourself someone better."

"It's-" Stevie sighed with a shrug. "It's not always bad, just that he's been working a lot more lately since his big promotion and I'm no longer the number one on his priorities list. It's a miracle I've managed to drag him out here."

Lindsey took a gulp of courage, pausing for a moment, before he asked. "I apologize for saying this, but is he okay with you by yourself, looking like this?"

"Like what?" Stevie replied, wondering if she was going to have to pour her wine over his head.

"Hot." Lindsey answered unashamed. "I wouldn't let you if you were with me."

Stevie bit into her bottom lip then leaned a little closer. "I told you, I don't ask for permission."

"Yeah." Lindsey laughed, nodding his head. "You scream trouble. Beautiful trouble." He added, before she could get offended.

It wasn't right, what she was doing, but Stevie hadn't had a man's full attention for a long time. Of course, she was flattered. It didn't hurt that Lindsey was devilishly handsome too. She should have thanked him for the wine and left once she was finished, though. However, when he ordered her another glass, she couldn't find it in her to say, no. It was just a conversation, right?

"Am I boring you?" Stevie noticed Lindsey checking his watch.

"God, no." Lindsey rushed to disagree. "I thought, the clock on the wall had stopped or something, I had to double check." Stevie stared at him, confused as to why that was such a big deal. "It's past 1 am."

"Oh, really?" It certainly didn't feel like they had been talking for over two hours.

"I think, the staff wants us to leave." Lindsey leaned in to whisper. "They've been giving us dirty looks for a good half an hour now."

"Do you want to?" Stevie asked, then clarified, when he frowned. "Do you want to get out of here?"

"What do you mean by that exactly?" Lindsey didn't want to assume.

Before answering, Stevie took her phone out of her purse. She checked for any missed calls or texts, but there were none. She wasn't angry or disappointed that Dean wasn't looking for her, though, she was actually relieved.

"Maybe we can find a place that's still open." Stevie said.
